****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

In the I9100XXKG3 firmware folder there are 3 .tar files, how'd I know which one I need?

There is

CODE_I9100XXKG3_CL401405_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG3.tar.md5
MODEM_I9100XXKG3_REV_02_CL1040774.tar.md5

Cheers

Your not reading the post fully - You will do some damage if your not careful.

Step 4 :p

1. Just download the firmware version you want from above and extract the .tar file in the archive and save it somewhere

4. Click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar file that you extracted in step 1

I don't get how I'm supposed to know which is the right .tar file to exrtact if their is 3 of them? Getting so frustrated now, I fail!

Thanks for your help - It has been greatly appreciated.

Now I've come to another brickwall though, Filesonic has never worked with Talktalk for some reason and now I can't download the kernel because it's hosted on Filesonic. Their is no rapidshare mirror. :(

Have you managed to update your ROM now to KG3 then?

I'd like to install clockworkmod and get that custom ROM on it, where do I start with installing clockworkmod?

Cheers

Instructions
Power your device off
Boot into Download-Mode using Volume Down + Home + Power
Hit Volume Up to accept the warning
Start Odin
Choose "GT-I9100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_X.X.X.X.tar" as PDA (no repartition)
Connect your Phone
Start flashing

Then download Cognition from

http://designgears.github.com/CognitionS2/

Place the ZIP file on the internal SD card in a folder called ROMs or something like that

ROM install notes:

Installation Instructions:
I highly recommend flashing the full rom! (updates can be unpredictable)
(If you have problems with the update version, flash the full rom instead)
BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!
Download the rom zip from below (don't rename it!)
Put the downloaded zip file on your internal sdcard
Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (don't do this from rom manager, it won't work)
Select Install zip from sdcard
Select Browse for zip on sdcard
Select the zip file you put on your sdcard above
(Let it flash)
Reboot, Enjoy!

Thanks for all your help so far Dangerous, appreciated!

I'm in Clockwork now ready to install the ROM, just making sure, do I need to wipe cache and data/factory reset?

Thanks

Cognition will do it for you anyways but I do both before flashing any rom just in case.
