12am or 12pm?

Theres no such time as 12 pm or 12 am i t makes as muh sense as 5:36 o'clock

The term is 12 noon (or midday) or 12 midnight. Given that am and pm mean anti And post meridian ie before and after midday, neither is correct for modday itself

you're aware that's not what they're saying. They just don't know when that switch between AM and PM occurs

I suspect the majority of the office who agreed with me, were being trolled by two people who vehemently believed the opposite.

Might I suggest that the two trolls have their contract of employment rewritten to clarify they can only take their daily "lunchbreak" at 12am then :D

but when exactly is midnight?
Midnight is short for middle of the night so why did everybody decide it was 12 am?

Nobody did the Laws of Physics decided that it would take A certain period of time to move round the sun until some fool decided that to split it up into 24 sections and call them hours

12:01pm
00:01am

There is no 12am or 12pm, just midnight and midday. PM = post-meridiem, AM = ante-meridiem ergo 12:00 and 0:00 are neither post nor ante

That's... that's wrong. You're wrong. 00:00 is 12AM. 12:00 is 12PM. That's just how it is. It's not a topic for debate.
