** Summer Transfer Window 2011/12 Season Rumours/Signings **

DM is highly irrational. Nasri is a good player with potential to be one of the world's top midfielders in his peak, but he's not worth the wages he's asking for, he's about a quarter as worthy as Cesc of £110k. Alas, the market has been distorted so badly it's now just completely broken, as he could travel up to Manchester and get about double his real worth, and an enormous signing on fee.

Who is worth their money. We don't spend much on transfers so personally I don't care what they get. I would rather we had a happy nasri or sell an unhappy one.

Not sure why anyone thinks we will get £20m for him though, last year of contract and unhappy. That is why I think Wenger doesn't mind running his contract out. £10-15m at most I think.

Shame as I really like the moody little Frenchman.

Jay Emmanuel Thomas deal to Ipswich is done... £1.5m rising to £2m with addons apparently.

Great signing from our perspective, there are a lot of cases where players don't quite look like they're going to make it at a top premiership club - but then after a few years of first team football come on strong. He's got a bit of maturing to do, so we'll see how it goes.

True, Ipswich look to be putting together quite a sensible squad for this season. Can see your strikers bagging a fair few goals and you guys being around the play-offs come May.

Skysports saying Aquilani is all but gone to Fiorentina.

It's so frustrating seeing people like Joe Cole, Degen, Poulsen and Jovanovic still at the club while we get rid of a player who has the potential to be really decent and help our season.

I think we can expect the deadwood to be shifted. However, Aquaman is not deadwood, so if this deal turns out to be a loan then you have to question the clubs decision making.

Bloodline76 if we will pay near 20 for rashly young what makes you think that a bumfight from utd, city, chelsea etc won't result in 20 for nasri?

"rashley young"?

Seriously what is your problem?

You "support" a team during the most successful period in its history. In fact you support a team enjoying success that is almost unparallelled in ANY domestic teams history yet you post NOTHING but negativity. Its embarrassing because i wonder what you are actually going to be like when this period of success comes to an end (as it inevitably does for all clubs) and you actually have something to moan about.

Theres nothing wrong with questioning things and no one is suggesting blind faith but hammering the club and manager for every single decision taken and every player signed and not signed, is getting a bit ridiculous.

Nasri finished as our 2nd highest scorer. Not a bad season DM. Why was he so bad in your eyes ? Was it 18 goals in total and a few preseason.

Because he was playing the wing, we couldn't win for crap when he played central midfield, he can't command the team, he got on the end of others work, but when the team relied on him, the team lost.

10 goals in the league isn't bad, Pires, in his best years was scoring 15 and getting 7-8 assists, but his team play was immaculate, he worked hard, he dragged us through games, he played HIS POSITION fantastically. Nasri does none of that, he got 10 goals, but that was it.

The problem with him staying is Wenger seems to see him in Cesc's role(with Cesc gone or injured), Nasri utterly and miserably failed in that job last season, and he's been awful there in preseason.

Its like Gervinho, 2 goals in a preseason is great, but we need a winger and he'll play as a winger.

Nasri got his goals leaving his position, doing nothing for the team and getting on the end of work, basically he got 10 goals as a second striker, we have 4 players minimum that would have done better as a second striker, what we needed was a winger, he had a poor season as a winger.

So Nasri scored 10 goals, he was epic, RVP got 18, he was epic, Wilshire was great, so if all this is true, why did we fail consistantly? Wilshire was good, he did what his role required, RVP did what was required of his role, Nasri didn't do what was required in his role, as a winger........ so where can we improve?

I also have never once said he was bad or had a poor season, he simply didn't do what was required in the team or in his position. If Djourou got 38 goals, but was crap in defence, replacing him with someone who is great in defence and getting in a striker to score the goals is how you win titles.

He's a decent player, but he is no where near a great player, Nasri, 115k a week, more than RVP, more than Henry got(maybe), more than Cesc is on right now I believe, its a joke. Its like Utd buying downing and giving him 115k a week, how much would the actually great players then want. He didn't win games for us, he wasn't anywhere near the top 5 most important players, he has an attitude problem, I have no issue with giving him a new contract, I have no issue with him staying. I have an issue with begging a not great player, to stay for top whack wages, when he's done his best to leave........ and we can get FAR over market value for him by selling, and buy an actual winger, for less, and make a profit.

Nasri's ok, theres better options and we can save a bunch of money going with someone else, its just bad business. If City offered 5mil, and Nasri only wanted 80k a week, that would be a totally different game, but thats not the situation we're in.

Exclusive interview with David Gill just released:

Did you always know this summer would be a busy one?
Yeah, we knew that. Edwin made it known that last season would be his last so we had planned for a new goalkeeper well in advance. With the others [new arrivals Phil Jones and Ashley Young], the opportunities came along and we were comfortable with that. So we’ve made three signings. We're looking at one more player to bring in. Nothing’s happening – nothing imminent – on that at the moment, but we’ll see what happens when we get home. There’ll still be 31 days of the transfer window to see if anything develops. But I’m not working on anything at the moment, in that respect.

If you do end up signing somebody could it go right up to the deadline?
Possibly. We’ve been looking at a particular position and two or three players in that position, but nothing’s imminent at the moment. The important point to understand, and Alex has made it clear, is that we need someone who’s going to improve the quality of the squad. We’ve got a great squad and to get into that squad you need to be a world-class player. There’s no point, if you can’t get the players you want, in buying someone for the sake of buying someone. But you never know – there’s often movement in August. I’m not sitting here saying I’m working on anything specific because I’m not, but that situation could change quickly when we get back to Carrington.

Why rant at me, i have clearly provided a justification to rebuke your point without having to try to insult your fanboy skills. Stick to the topic i am trying to - except i keep getting sidetracked by non factual non informative posts like yours.

Are you seriiously telling me that Ashley Young is worth near 20 million in the last season of his contract with no other major clubs circling (at least publically)? Yet Nasri is not, despite the top 4 clubs in england wanting him? Yes or No?

Oh come on, who is saying Nasri isn't worth £20 million at the moment.

That is why arsenal need to sell now. You have a number of clubs after a player with a year left on their contract and the bidding will be good.

Bloodline76 if we will pay near 20 for rashly young what makes you think that a bumfight from utd, city, chelsea etc won't result in 20 for nasri?

You get a player with 0 years left on his contract and he leaves for free to whoever he wants. Arsenal are not selling him this year and will not get £20 million for a player that has no contract with them.

I don't think that anyone is debating whether Nasri is a £20m player in the current market but its a moot point if Wenger is happy to let his contract run down.

I can't help feeling that Wenger is hoping to be in a position January to either offload him for a decent sum or persuade him to stay with a contract extension if Arsenal are doing well in the league etc.

Quoted for truth...ive put the 20million bit in bold for you fez...
