how different is mata to modric, bale or lennon? doesn't make sense to me unless one of those 3 is pretty much sold as far as the board is concerned. could be levy dangling a carrot to chelsea in a 'look, i'm listening, i haven't walked away, infact i'm seeing what else is out there, £35m and modric can go' kind of appeal.

Well to start with he is better player than all of them imo, Bale had that good spell for a few months that's it but is promising, Lennon pace few good crosses not much more. Modric is highly over rated imo he is a very good player but id still chose Mata over him

They're probably better, I don't know any of them intimately but the Italian and Spanish leagues are much stronger than the French league. Pastore in particular is meant to have a lot of potential for growth.

Young isnt a prospect, he is consistently one of the top 2 or 3 wingers in the league.
Gervinho is some random half harsed winger come forward from a 4th rate league who has looked beyond average in a couple of meaningless friendlies against rubbish opponants.

Ashley Young will get more goals and assists than than both Valencia and Nani this season and will probably get 3 times as many assists and twice as many Goals as Gerbils for Arsenal will.

So you think young will get about 45 assists and 20 goals this season.

Realistic Gervinho will get 15 assists and 10 goals I think.

I don't even rate young as good as Nani. he's alright. not overly skillfully. not the fastest. for me could be valencia mkii.

Infact i have young down for 5 goals, 11 assists. then 7 goals and 11 assists in the last 2 seasons. Nani eclipsed that in half the playing time the season before last and then blew him out of the water last season with 9 goals and 18 assists...

Someone somewhere is vastly and i do mean vastly over rating young and i can't see anything or any proof as to why..

Also minute for minute you can see that nzogbia actually produces more than young despite playing for a much inferior club...Astonishing villa just upgraded and pocketed 7 million. we just downgraded our squad and blew 16 million very rashly indeed.

Man City have really only got to overcome Man United or perhaps Chelsea this coming season - Arsenal, Spurs or Liverpool are not genuine contenders for the top 2.
