Logitech been ripped off - to grass or not?

Yes there's no way this is a legit "seller". RMA authorisation to sell replacement goods my arse. 1LANCS View Post is in laalaa land.

Pretty sure there was a program doing the round a few years back that would generate the necessary details needed to pass on to Logitech customer support. Did a little Google and possibly came across a more up to date version, called MagicPID. I'd guess he could be using that to generate the PIDs and get the items shipped but this is all speculation of course .

PID?

the base of my mouse (the sticker thing) has all scratched off over the years and im sure others have said the same but logi has still taken them as long as you smash the **** out of it with a mallet and send them a pic.

Yeah, apparently S/N is used on old products, PID is on the newer stuff. Mice are generally easier to replace I imagine.

I have to admit, I do not get why the OP is concerned about being a "grass". I tend to hold people accountable for their actions whoever they are, but even if I wasn't, surely its not considered "grassing" if the other party is not a mate?

So theoretically, if I was a theiving bugger, I could get the serial number of any logitech product, call customer support claiming it was mine, and then get a free product through the post as a replacement.

That is ridiculous.

OP. Inform everybody and hopefully this dirty little crim will be brought to justice.

Samsung do the same thing. I phoned up about my charger not working and they said they will send a new one this week.

*For the record my charger doesn't work :)

Well, personally, I'd be pretty angry there was a claim in my name I hadn't made. I'd be tempted to report it for that reason alone. I know that might sound petty, but I don't like the idea of someone claiming to be 'me'.

Not petty at all.

I'd inform Logitech, it's not a case of grassing on him, it's fraud and ultimately Logitech customers are paying for this chancer. There's a chance he's an employee since he clearly knows how to play the system.

No way on earth I'd not inform Logitech, paypal and ebay.

Yeah pretty much sums up my thoughts, Logitech 100% need to know, including eBay.

Hope the OP keeps us updated and goes through with this.

I'm pretty sure someone with the means to get to you from 400 miles away would be dealing with something a bit more potent than logitech peripherals. :D I'd go all out on him tbh, I've used Logitech customer support a few times and they've been sublime, I feel somewhat offended that someone's taking advantage of a company's good nature.

Yeah, they'd be dealing in CPU's by now :p

I'd just notify ebay but not logitech. Nothing to gain by telling logitech and it risks them changing their policy to make it harder for honest folk to get something replaced.

Total theft obviously but I'll admit I am slightly impressed.

Couldn't agree with you more on anything in this post.

Cant believe I didnt know this.... think I might start up myself, no harm done.. ive bought some Logitech stuff recently :D

The person selling the items isn't that smart. If it was me I would have shipped it with no paper work in a new box.

Please post the ebay ID. I want to see what they are selling.

Well that's the point, he can't get the items shipped to him first or it would be obvious he was making so many claims under warranty.
