What film did you watch last night?

Leon, the extended cut on BluRay. One of my favorite films ever but never got round to watching the extended cut. Not keen on the extr abits at all, the relationship between Leon and Matilda was uncomftable at times as it was. In this version its borderline pedophilia.

The extra bits fill it out a lot more, and they really help in my opinion. The relationship was always meant to be contentious, and you're supposed to feel uncomfortable about it. It serves to highlight the differences between them, and the weakness of Leon's character - he's a man who has never really matured or grown up, except in his work, and she's a child who wants to act like a grown up. They offset each other well in that respect.

I also like the additional training that you see her going through.

i haven't heard of or seen that but the title tells me all i need to know. it baffles me how people can watch ridiculously named films like this and then moan about it afterwards.

I was genuinely confused that it had been published at all. the original pirahna film for example was bad. but passable.

This was truly awful. Sometimes you have an hour or so to fill, unfortunately this was the best sounding thing on but it sucked.

Check out Frankenfish. Much better film, even if I was personally quite entertained by the sheer madness of Mega Piranha.

Triangle - 7/10. Some nice concepts with time loops/multi dimensional going ons. didn't care for the ending though

The Mist - 8/10. Aren't Stephen King adaptions meant to be terrible? I couldn't even remember this book, the langoliers is the one that stuck with me. Anyway it's not terrible, was far better than expected. Shocking end too, won't forget that for a while

EDIT:: Also the lead actress in the Mist is JD's girlfriend from scrubs if she was 10 years older. It's uncanny and creeped me out as much as anything else in the movie

i watched The butterfly effect last night, first time my lass had seen it, safe to say she enjoyed it. Its a great movie imho

Point Break - 9.11/10 - Quality film and only knew about it from Hot Fuzz. Keano at his best, continued single facial expression throughout!!!

One of my all time favourite films. Watched it when I was younger and loved it. Only found out this year that its 20 years old

I am number four
7/10

It got better as it went on, started of all very teenage angsty which is never fun to watch, then got a lot better

A reminder Super 8 is out soon here folks and I personally reccommend it even though its nothing like the trailers promise.

(I caught it back in June on the US release)

Dark City - 8/10

Kept meaning to watch this and glad I did, great film and interesting to see a pre-24 Kiefer Sutherland and the Crystal Maze dude!

Biutiful - 7.5/10

Really enjoyed this but perhaps a bit too long in parts.

Not technically films I watched last night but ones I've seen in the last few days:

Rango - very funny, really good animation, and as always Johnny Depp was excellent. 8/10

Hanna - A slightly odd film, a bit too 'indie' for my tastes. It felt like it was trying too hard sometimes and the main villain's motives weren't ever properly explained. 6/10

Your Highness - A bit crude (but then I was expecting that) but I did find it reasonably funny. Being able to stare at Natalie Portman for an hour and a half was enough reason for me to watch it! :D 6/10

Shawshank Redemption - as shocking as this may sound, it was the first time I'd ever seen it, and like most people I absolutely loved it. It's probably my favourite feel-good movie of all time. 10/10

Unknown - nowhere near as good as Taken, but still a very enjoyable film so long as you don't start thinking too hard about the ridiculous storyline or crazy coincidences. One of those enjoyable action films where you don't need to engage your brain. 7/10

I watched Animal House yesterday. 7/10 at a rough guess.

Very enjoyable and you can see where a lot of other comedies got some of the gags/ideas from.
Quite hard to believe it's as old as I am  and it's odd seeing so many familiar faces together in an old film, although at least one hasn't changed much to look at (Stephen Furst doesn't look that different to how he looks in B5, apart from the hair...).

I'm going to try and watch Super next.
