****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Weird, atleast it's all working now though.

I don't know if you're new to Android or not (my memory is terrible at remembering who's who, never mind what each posters experience with Android is :p), if you're not or if you already know about the following feel free to ignore as I don't mean to sound patronising :).

Obviously make a backup in CWM of your ROM (I think I remember you saying you were going to do this) so that should anything happen in the future when flashing you have a working backup to go back to.

Download "Titanium Backup * root" and once you've installed all your apps and setup all the settings how you want do a backup of everything, so that if you need to factory reset for whatever reason you can restore everything, you can choose individual stuff to restore/backup so if you get a new ROM and don't want the old theme or whatever put on you can just not restore that (I normally just restore contacts/accounts and sync/all my games and apps along with the data for them to restore all my settings and game saves).

Apologies if you're not a noob to Android like me and that the whole post was obvious **** that you already knew :p.

Hmm, my phone is being even more annoying now, bugging out when I try to go to any part of the message other than where I've currently typed to, deleting/adding stuff at the end of the post evem though the curser isn't there :p.

Hmm the above bug is gone now that I've gone out and back into the post box, might have something to do with the text you type not actually staying there when you press done the first time opening the box up. Still, atleast copy/paste works since I always forget to open and close it straight away :p.

Thanks for this, it has reminded me to make a backup! I'll have a go at doing it now, cheers. :D

im on lite'ning 5.0 and its fine. so what if it artifacts, it seems there are issues with the crt off animation using certain combinations of rom and kernal. Hardly a big deal when nothing else is affected.

Yeah it doesn't bother me & it happens on Exynos 3.4. I think I might try Lite'ning Rom again this weekend. What kernel are people using on this? or does it install one when its flashing?

Earlier on when I was flashing back to stock ROM using Odin, right at the end my brother accidentaly unplugged the USB cable, everything is working fine (I reflashed since) but I'm just wondering can this do any damage to the phone storage or anything?

Hi just updated to lightning 5.0 and get yellow triangle on boot up but clears - seems ok after wards though - can I clear it? ta
edit - just means custom rom installed I gather - no big deal...

lite'ning comes with a custom kernel that's supposed to make things a bit faster/smoother. cant say ive noticed much difference :p. you can put a different kernel on there afterwards but ive never bothered :)

Anyone have any problem with their phone not auto-connecting to the router when they get back home after being out??

I suspect it's a router prob, rather than a phone prob as it used to happen with my old HTC Desire too....

It constantly loops trying to connect to the router saying 'acquiring IP address'...fails to get one, then retries.

The only solution I've found is to log into my router and disable - then re-enable wireless on it.

The phone immediately connects ok then, and there's no further problem...until I leave the house and return again

I've thought of possible culprits/causes, and wondered if it might be my encryption type I've set on the router...WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK!!

Before I go altering things, and then having to also modify all the other devices in the house, I was wondering if anyone else was suffering from the same kinda thing?

Cheers
