BaZ why would you say that i got excited but then i realized we have a friendly with Valencia tonight! So it be nothing my hope of getting him has gone now.

You could have done it properly - Honda signs deal with Liverpool and watch Tombstone get excited.

I accept no responsibility for any overexcitement caused to impressionable posters.

I done that twice already :p
They only want £40m, which isn't that bad considering he's 24. They spent €40m (£34m, from Wiki) on a 28 year old Villa. Taking into account the age difference, they're hardly miles apart!

I didn't realise Villa was quite that much. I only thought it was £30m. I agree that it's much better value signing a 24 year old for ~£40m compared to signing a 28 year old for ~£34m.

However, as I said earlier and what I suspect is the biggest reason why Barca aren't willing to pay £40m on Fabregas, it's questionable that they need him.

Strikers traditionally cost a fair bit more than midfielders to begin with and they also signed Villa from another La Liga club which would bump up the price slightly but most importantly, they needed Villa/another striker to replace Ibrahimovic.

Barca already have Xavi, Iniesta, Mascherano and Busquets, plus Thiago and as Guardiola said, countless midfielders as good as Wilshere coming through their academy. They don't need Fabregas.

Tbf, "but I'm a better manager than you are" made a nice change from "so you think you know better than Fergie?"
The amount of thread's that are being wrecked by the same 2 or 3 posters has become a joke :/

We don't agree on a lot of things but I can't ever remember showing you so little respect for having a different opinion as they do to each other so often. Perhaps if they accepted they're wrong like you do the threads around here might improve :p

What crap over the last few pages? We've been talking about transfers for the last few pages and more importantly, I've posted a lot over the last few pages

I wonder if Man City make a bid for Nasri now. There's been loads of news in the last few days about an apparent bust up on the way back from the Asia trip between Wenger and Nasri, as well as Nasri allegedly saying he will never sign a new contract at Arsenal. I'd take the rumoured £20,000,000 in an instant.

As for Fabregas, everyone knows he wants to play for Barcelona again. Barca know, we know too but unless they match or come close to Wenger's valuation he won't be going anywhere and Arsenal fans are as frustrated and annoyed at the stalemate as all the other fans of other clubs are who have to listen to the same crap summer after summer.

One other thing, Wenger said that next week something might happen, vague as ever.

That's without mentioning Yaya Touré or Kompany.

to be fair Im not sure both of those would be in any 1st XI with all of those mentioned (although they are certainly good for the squad)

Biggest thing for City to prove this season is their heart and mind (and deal with the pressure of CL games every other week mixed in with EPL fixtures - which takes getting used to for the core players)
