Did such a presence stop people rioting?

Don't get me wrong, the RUC and PSNI rule when it cones to public order. They are outstanding. That said, they can't prevent rioting nor stamp it out in the blink of an eye as some think should be happening here.

I mean you're literally swimming in irony there. Why on earth do you think these kids (and adults!) are tearing their communities apart?.. Why are they the type of people who are 'out to cause trouble and steal from people', what made them that way?, what's tipping them over the edge?. Why are they so angry and volatile?.
We need to recognise that there is a difference between inner city hoodlumism and a more general social decay.. And in either case we have to find out what are the contributing facts, instead of screaming and bleeting the stale old racist/small minded 'SEND THE ARMY IN' garbage..
