I guess nowhere is completely safe but the majority of Glasgow isn't that bad.

been to Glasgow twice on nights out, i have a very thick English accent, never had any issues bit of banter with bouncers was the limit. went out in Birmingham and got no end of trouble from the "gangsta's"

What you've done is post shallow surface impressions as if they were meaningful. You've confused proximate causes with ultimate causes, and then suggested a string of "solutions" based on narrow, naive misunderstandings of what is going on and how to deal with it; you're idea of where to go next has demonstrated your complete lack of knowledge of the history of what has happened what your ideas have actually been tried and the results thereof.

edit Although to your credit, at least you've risen above the truly mindless racism exhibited by many of our less bright forum members.

I am not going to sit here and make a fifty page report going into all the causes of this current social situation, it's a forum.

I've made clear and concise posts based on certain things that have absolutely contributed positively towards the discussion in this thread.

It's nice to have people agreeing with my posts, but I wont sit here and use people agreeing with me as proof that I am right. Plenty of popular opinion is frequently wrong after all. Yet I don't believe anything I've said is that far off the mark, nor do I think it's demonstrating a 'naive cluelessness' as you put it.

You act as if you have a better grasp of things and can provide better solutions. You imply that I'm clueless and have no knowledge of the situations when in reality you have no real idea of anything about me so it's impossible for you to judge that.

I'd rather spend my time in this thread discussing the actual issues, rather than having to nitpick with someone who doesn't agree with me for whatever reason. Feel free to contribute to that progressive discussion with your expert opinion.

0047: Merseyside Police are advising people to avoid the Park Road South area in Birkenhead, where a number of vehicles are on fire.
A number of shops and pubs on Grange Road, in Birkenhead, have also been damaged.

One positive effect i am seeing which i hope we do not lose is that these riots are now making communities come together and that we all must work together to stop this crap from happening again. Also seeing people of all races applauding the police is also a good sign, i hope everyone now realise that we must all now must work together. this is on thing which Cameron has tried to push but he has gone about it the wrong way, hopefully now we must all understand that we must not fight each other but must all work together to improve things...

Yet we have black community leaders, whatever they are, telling us how they are excluded from society.

The Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons of the world need to be put to pasture.. they do nothing but harm relations. If racism was percieved to be less or went away, they would be out of the public spotlight and out of a job.
