^^ Spuds Reg is a hero! :D

Yeah as it stands they aren't ready to govern. But the basic gist of their policies is what I agree with. And it isn't racist, it's just putting British people first for a change. I don't think this is wrong, I think it's sensible and fair.

:(

It is racist to decide that being not white = not british which has always been the fundamental theme of the BNP.

No, the problem was created when a certain government decided the best way to deal with the failing economy was to employ as many people as possible into the public sector, by creating completley unnecessary jobs, and throw benefits at the rest.

Labour would have made most of the same cuts as the Tories, as would Lib Dem, two parties heavily heavily lied to YOU in the elections and one didn't.

Look at America, who are going down the "labout campaign promises route" have the world, someone else will pay for it, wooo. Their economy is closer to the brink than ours, and theirs is less reliant on the EU which is completely screwed.

All conservatives are doing is removing life support that SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN APPLIED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

We'll expose problems that have been bubbling under the surface for years, but Labours plan of, spend our way out of problems just means the problems get worse and blow up in our faces bigger, worse and far more dangerously than they would have if we ever governered the country properly.

How the hell can you still support Labour when its plain to see the utter crap job they've done, everywhere, in everything, and jesus christ, look who is in charge of them, seriously, the entire leadership is made up of just about the most hateful, spiteful **** of a woman in the entire country, a guy who literally comes across as retarded when he speaks(not just the voice), and a whole other bunch of idiot union puppets who have done their best to ruin this country.

Education, joke, NHS, joke, Policing, joke, transport, joke, foreign policy and getting into illegal and 100% unnecessary wars largely responsible for the increases in spending, deficit and debt, joke.

I don't know why you bother replying to him. It's quite clearly all the wrong doings of the Tories over the last 10 years.

Afraid they're going to be needed this weekend, 2nd Saturday in August and all that.

It's very easy for Cameron to authorise the use of items he knows logistically are nigh on impossible to deploy, he just thinks it makes him look good for the voters.

50,000 rubber bullets will be better than 2 water cannons!

Just saw this on the bbc and made me lol in my office

"1055: BBC Monitoring Libyan foreign ministry spokesman Khalid Ka'im has called on world governments to take action over the unrest in the UK. David Cameron has lost legitimacy and "must go", Libya's official news agency Jana reports. Libya "demands that the international community not stand with arms folded in the face of this gross aggression against the rights of the British people, who are demanding its right to rule its country", the report said."

LOL WUT :p

They are just demonstrating that what Britain said about Gaddafi and his government's response to rioters was equally ridiculous.

I don't know why.

I said from the start the army were not needed. Not to sound smug at all, I just knew that police could handle it although it is far from over it has to be said.

I don't think you can really call this "handled" in any sense of the word.

It seems more naturally died down after causing millions-tens of millions of damage while the police seemingly did nothing to protect incredibly valuable property.

If this is the police "handling" it then i think it should retrospectively be declared a riot and the bill handed to them, maybe next time they'll take action to reduce damage if it's going to cost them.

Only took three days of rioting for the Met to get a grip on the situation, now we have large gangs of armed/drunk vigilantes patrolling the streets of London too. The Met can take no credit at all from last night's relative calm, they've been thoroughly embarrassed as an organisation.

Well I would disagree.

3000 police officers usually patrol a huge city of 7 million, 6000 on the first few nights and 16000 last night with relative calm.

The Met and others can take a lot of credit and I am 100% behind them.

It's London mate, not Mos Eisley.

It is not a huge task to ship some from Northern Ireland.

I doubt that NI will actually want to give up any of their water cannon. It's still marching season after all. Also, they said they weren't prepared to give up any men. Surely we'd need people that were trained and had used these things in a proper riot? I doubt the Met/Manchester Police have these people.
That being said, I suspect if the Met/DC ask them they'll probably supply one or two. I still doubt they'll do much (but I'll probably be called a bumhole, idiot, male sexual organ again for saying that).

Breaking news on BBC:

Breaking News Prime Minister David Cameron

"Nothing is off the table. There are contingency plans for water cannon to be used at 24 hours notice".

Will these actually get used though? my guess is no.

It's the left that is so against active policing of working class scum, ie your lot ;) Perhaps if they hadn't hamstrung the police with constant attacks and accusations of heavy handedness and brutality when they've tried to deal with rioting scum in the past, they'd have been more prepared to act this time?

I'm left-authoritarian, not left-liberal so I don't have a "lot".

Agreed (I've been harping on about the emasculation of the police for years), I was one of the few members sticking up for the police over the tragic death of Ian Tomlinson. Funny how the same people who were calling for the policeman who pushed Mr Tomlinson to be done for murder are now calling for a more heavy-handed approach to rioters, I'm afraid you've made a rod for your own backs there.

nice statistics, make them up out of thin air to justify your post? ace

well my survey says that the looting is 100% nothing to do with race

wow according to that statistic, looks like im correct - well done me!
I made an educated guess - what's wrong with that? I watch the paper review on Sky and BBC each night, and that's what I based it on.

I also didn't offer the conclusion that the riots had anything to do with race. I am telling you what the pictures showed. You need to step down a bit and chill out.

Anyone see Gove vs. Harman on Newsnight?

Harman is a disgusting woman with an awful agenda and I sincerely hope all of you Labour fanboys can see her for what she is. She is a complete disgrace, trying to pin this all on the reform of the EMA, spending cuts and other tax related issues.

We are STILL spending far more money than we earn every year, there is still a massive deficit. The Labour loaded agenda moaning about Tory cuts is frankly ridiculous. They've barely cut enough to get the IMF off our backs, the country is still on the path to bankruptcy, courtesy of Labour.

She acts like these children were perfect under the old regime, but the second the Tories got into power and cut their free £30/week just to go to school (ridiculous in itself) that they rose up and decided to 'protest' (not riot). These kids are very much the children of a Labour government who mismanaged this country for thirteen years. These are Labour children, acting in the Labour way.

They feel deeply entitled to their freebies such as being paid to attend free education and plentiful benefits. Now they may lose some of these (as they rightly should), they feel as though they are entitled to rob and loot from other members of society. Labour created this entitlement culture and it really makes me sick that Harman can sit there and try to twist it to be the Tories fault.

I sincerely hope people can see through her bare faced lies and the lies of Ken Livingstone.

Why 24 hrs' notice? What does that mean?

Basically means that they will attempt to stop the riots within the given time, if it "does not work" then we will bring out the water cannon's

A way of saying to the public, "we will bring them out as a very last resort, probably after your town has been destroyed"

Eh? What a ridiculous non-sequitur.

Ian Tomlinson was not rioting. He wasn't engaged in any kind of criminality, he was a law abiding citizen on his way home!

The police were wrong there, and yet I do think the police should crack down hard on the rioters. It isn't a contradictory position.
