That's ridiculous. We have a duty, as reasonable human beings, to ensure that those who are willing to work are remunerated in a proper, deserving manner. I'm not suggesting that everyone should be on 25k a year (though that would be nice), I'm stating that we, as compassionate and reasonable people, should ensure that everyone is able to support themselves through the work that they do. To suggest otherwise is absurd.
Life is far more important than skills and 'things'.

You said it. Deserving manner. Does a burger flipper deserve £6/hr? Plus whatever they get given in benefits.

I see everyone read my reply out of context. It is a direct reply to Dolph's point of someone should only get paid what the skills they provide are worth.

Ergo, if someone cannot provide any skills, they don't get paid.

off topic: date6491: Nice sig, am reading the book now and it's good. :)

Yes. They are providing a service that people want. Why shouldn't someone willing to work get paid sufficiently? Do you believe that working in a job like that is wrong?

As for benefits on top of that, show some examples.

Indeed, let the disabled and injured starve to death, they offer little value in the way of work.

Arbeit macht frei

Everyone has some capacity for labour or skill.

I am not saying that job is wrong. It is a job. I am saying do the skills they use deserve a reward of approximately £6/hr

Single person gets a reduction in council tax. Does it still hold true that if your household income is below £15k you can still housing benefits?

wow well that's just a massive insult to all those disabled people who actually do work and provide valuable services as you just lump them all in together as useless cripples who need to be supported by the state as any work is out of reach for them?

Why are we attacking the disabled?, it's not the disabled that are out there rioting and looting. If you are proven to have a disability you should not be treated like trash, but those with kids and more kids should not get the same in kind!.

The issue here lies with people not forced to make decisions, I want a bigger house, I would like to have another child with my wife. we cannot afford to do so, we have to make the choice not to do it as I have no choice, on the other hand the scroungers who dont work will pop out more and more kids knowing they equal more money and a bigger house.

I could give you a perfect example of this but I wont bore you but this person has cost the taxpayer well over a million pound so far.

The monetary reward isn't particularly important. Be it £1, £6 or £10 an hour. What is important is that people who are willing to work should be paid a living wage (in proportion to their working hours) that allows them to be functional members of society.

My household income is less than £15k, and after doing a benefit check on direct.gov I'm not entitled to anything.
