So tempted to order new mobo, cpu, gpu and ram for BF3.
Not sure if to order all of those or just a gpu upgrade.

Sorry but why would you need a totally new system? Its not as if your current one is in the stone age. Wait till the beta to see how it performs.

Yes I will wait till the beta, but this is the game I want. If my set up can't max it at 1920x1200, I will need to upgrade those things, about £800 worth of upgrades!

Your i7 is as good as any Sandybridge setup!

If it doesn't perform well then all you will need to upgrade is your 5870 :o

Origin uses 100mb of my 6,000mb RAM. So I will not be buying this amazing AAA title that I've been waiting several years for

However, it can become an issue if the client is draining CPU power, which was the case with Origin during the Battlefield 3 alpha trial. Of course, it was only an alpha, so many tweaks and fixes are bound to happen. Another issue is memory usage among these clients, both Steam and Origin appear to use somewhere around 50 MB of memory during a game

I know it was posted above but it only uses 50MB not 100 as tostring claims :D

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with your current mobo, cpu and ram, if anything an 17 is still major overkill for games. See how your current gpu fairs in the beta, then if needed, upgrade the gpu alone.

Bit crap if im honest, the Journey to Battlefield 3 should really have shown all the PC games, instead of going from 2 to 3, 1942 to 3 would have been a lot more interesting.
