That was virtually a certainty, just going to be akward having to have to use the friends list system on this as opposed to being able to do it through steam with already established lists.

I just hope that the game is as open as BF2. Loved Zatar Wetlands and the scope it gave for helicopters and planes.

Warthog was part of a booster pack, wasn't on that map.

Origin friends have nothing to do with BF3, you'll have to add people on Battlelog.

Battlelog will be the front end for the game, where you launch all your games from/speak to your friends/see your stats.

The game will just install to origin, and to be honest, I have no problem with that what-so-ever.

Seemed to run fine on the alpha for me.

Exactly, the battlelog website is where it all happens so the download service arguments people have about Origin/Steam are largely irrelevant as any client would just launch your browser.

Providing their web servers hold under the load of release day it will be fine, as I thought it worked great in the Alpha.
