Like languishing on benefits perhaps? Or do we only judge those we are jealous of?
Veering widely back to the topic at hand, looks like all those people attacking the Met for lying need to retract...

What do you mean?
Because the police never said there was a shoot out? The IPCC had the impression shots were exchanged due to there being an officer hit but this was an assumption on their part. How does that clear the police of lying?
I am all for the work hard, be creative and take risks and you will be rewarded. But, there are quite a few individuals/private companies who make their living from manipulating the economic system, I do not respect those.
That is the answer everytime we talk about colonialism, well you need to look further into what we earned from Americas, India, Iranian Oil, blah blah.
Our businesses made huge amounts of money from pillaging natural resources and using near slave labour to get them.

The European created the combustion engine. Without that, all the oil that the Middle East sits on would be virtually worthless. So you can thank the West for injecting huge amounts of wealth into the ME by buying their oil. Imagine what the ME would be without oil revenues.
And they did not provide a service? Extracting oil to give countries the luxury of automobiles and clean water systems. The West has given these people quality of life lightyears beyond what they could create for themselves.
The workers were paid wages way above what they could have earned without these first world firms coming in.

True, but unfortunately society is dictated by jealously, simply because capitalism exists (though because certain banks thought it would be fun creating a plutonomy in the US we now all have to suffer for the blunder of "Crony" Capitalism).

How is income inequality a bad thing? Work harder, earn more, buy more stuff. Achievement unlocked. It's only a bad thing where you have a culture of people expecting - and sometimes getting - something for nothing. Cheap celebrity, greed and a culture of dependence on the state without any responsibility have created that sort of environment.
David Cameron said:...among the richest countries, it's the more unequal ones that do worse according to almost every quality of life indicator
You're going to have to be more specific or give an example - I'm not sure what you're complaining about.
Inb4 he wants proof.![]()
You talk as though petrol is the only serious use for oil.

How come more equal societies perform better on many things such as violent crime, mental health, teenage pregnancy rates, innovation, and plenty of others I've forgotten? The evidence is compelling - more income equality is better for everyone, even the very richest.
Don't take my word for it, take the word of the current Prime Minister:
How come more equal societies perform better on many things such as violent crime, mental health, teenage pregnancy rates, innovation, and plenty of others I've forgotten? The evidence is compelling - more income equality is better for everyone, even the very richest.
But again, the suggestion that you can force equality on a country through the taxation system is well proven false already...
