The slowest bike build on the internets continues.

Some Blackspire bars. Can't complain for £25. :D

PS: Supercow - Do you like my strimmer?

Love the frame colour. :D

Hey all, I got a shimano HG74 chain on my bike, when fitting the chain guide I had to split the chain to get it through the front mech. Me friend who is a bike mechanic said i need to replace the pin i took out the chain with a proper replacement pin and not reuse it as it wont last long. Now me bike is 30 speed so i assume i'll need a shimano 10sp connector pin from here: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=52598

will that one (10sp) be fine to pop in place of the pin i took out?

You appear yo have matched bright green with bright blue.

Who are you, ichabod?!

It's only just begun. :D

You use that thing to trim those ginger Scottish pubes of yours?

Yes, yes I do!

Those Superstar pedals look out of place on such a lovely bling bike. I am dissapoint!

My last superstar pedals lasted 2 years and showed no signs of dying
To be fair the exteme kerb gnar while nipping down to the shops isn't the most demanding of any pedal. :p

You are confusing me with rob20 ? :p :D

Maybe I'll scratch off the white Superstar logo and put on it " Kona Wah wah" or " Nukeproof" etc etc on it... because they are all made by HT.

And they would still look out of place. Get some DMR Vaults or Pre-runners or such like. They would finish off your build nicely.

:D

Not gonna happen, I love these pedals, they grip and they last. I'd love the Point1 pedals, or even the DMR ... but these are fantastic for a fraction of the price.

Meh

You do know they are made in Asia? and are not exactly an underdog.

Isnt everything made in Asia now adays?

I'm more than happy with Superstar products, they have been excellent value and decent. Why pay 2-3 times more for something thats just as good if not better than the branded expensive stuff.

Seriously just to buy a bolt and bearing kit for my old E13 DRS, i could replace the whole thing with a Superstar Plasma chain guide which does the same thing and comes in pretty colours :)

The point is, I have the means to buy whatever I want - hence the spec.
I believe the BOS will give me a significant performance increase/reliability for the money spent... so I got it ( my 2 year old Idylle's didn't need a service after all the years' use and 3 weeks in france in total).

I can buy the other pedals, but given that Ive felt the Canfield Crampons, DMR Vault, Point1 Podium and Tewnty6 Prerunners .. and they all felt the same bar a bit of a difference in sizing of the platform, but my feet were stuck to the pedals completely
(bar the Crampons, they felt a bit weird, but that was possibly just in my head?).
Since I cant feel any difference in grip in all of the above, paying for the one that costs less just makes sense to me, as I don't like to waste money for the sake of having my bike say a posh brand on it :p

I didn't like the crampons either. I'm told they take a bit of getting used to so I'll reserve judgement.

Spending money where you can perceive a gain makes sense. You could argue that there are diminishing returns going from Superstar to DMR, or even RS to BOS. ;)
