****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I use it and the led toggle works for me

Wonder why mine doesn't :( Widgetsoid makes my LED go on/off like switchpro used to on my Desire but on this it just makes the screen white, which is naff!

Any idea how to change the 5 drop down icons from the task bar at the top (unsure if it's a stock or lite'ning feature)?

Is it better to go pay as you go, or contract, if I will mainly be just using the mobile web and wifi and not texts or calls?

on switchpro go to global settings and tick 'use camera flash' :)

And I don't think you can change the drop down switches.

Just installed Lite'ning on my S2, and I'm really happy with the GO Launcher thing that goes with it. At last I have a decent calendar widget!

I've been running the debranded S2 ROM for ages, I should have done this sooner. I hope that I get better battery life now as well, as some days it's great and other days it sucks.

i'd say pay as you go

got my S II sim free for £499

it largely depends on usage. over the course of 24 months mine works out at about £720 but thats on a contract, so minutes/texts/internet included. PAYG wouldnt work out any cheaper in my case and of course id have to pay for the handset upfront as well, which isnt the case for a contract (other than a nominal fee in some cases)

Was with my nephew today, he's just got his new SGS2 for free as his work phone since he works at T-Mobile HQ. We were comparing phones and apps (as you do :p). He's got an all white TPU case on. I prefer my black case, plus his made the phone look a bit bulkier, but still looked cool.

Anyway, he had downloaded the speed test app and was getting about 4000mbps download speed, the signal was 'H'. So I downloaded the same app and was only getting just over 1900 kbps, also on 'H'. And I was sitting right next to him! Tried it several times, always the same.I don't understand it. Could he be getting some sort of network priority since he works for them or would that be nonsense?

Did you just click the test button or manually select a server and are both phones on the same network?

Those are 2 important things to make sure are the same on both phones.

Just found this deal on HotUKdeals:

For those that missed it last time, the mobiles.co.uk £99 deal on the Samsung Galaxy S2 is back. This is a 12 month contract and includes 400 minutes, 1000 texts and 1GB internet for £30/month. So that's a total cost of £459.99 for the phone together with the contract.

Sound like a good deal? Says its on talkmobile. Also one poster mentions that after the 12 months are up it can be used with a simcard and used as a PAYG phone, is this correct?

Yep, both on T-Mobile. Tested on closest server, london. I also manually selected another server, maidenhead, same result.

i didn't pay for the handset upfront . im paying monthly to a catalogue

but as he was going to use it for mobile web/wifi not calls/texts i'd say PAYG would be better

Sorry if linking is not allowed :)

Not usually a fan of white phones myself but have to say that looks very nice and would def prefer to my black if given the choice now.

This is a very good deal. I went for it last month, no complaints whatsoever, well recommended. Porting of my existing number went flawlessly.
