David Starkey's problem was that he didn't talk about it as the black gang culture, but black culture in general, but he was clearly speaking about the black gang culture when he talked about the language that is used. Regardless, I don't think we'll see him on TV again, the PC lobby will ensure that.

It was a bit of a coincidence that we have some of the biggest police cuts in history and then we have complete lawlessness allowed to happen to the sum of £100millions, then we have new laws and police resistance against the cuts all in one big show. I am not making any claims, just saying it is a bit of a coincidence.

Revolving door justice, a prime example.

its only going to get worse with mass privatisation and cuts in the justice services, serco et al do it on the cheap, they cut the prison/probation service, the tories can't have it both ways i.e effective justice with **** all investment

News that a 25 year old man from Waltham Forest has been charged with handling 40k worth of goods that he looted!

A 17-year-old student from East London was accused of receiving £10,000 of mobile phones, cigarettes and clothing looted from Tesco.

I'd love to hear what excuses they have for their actions.

Not really.

The idea of a free trade zone is totally different from the federal behemoth the EU has become now.

Also, the idea that the EU would stop trading with us is completely ridiculous. If we have large amounts of imports from the EU, which I'm pretty sure we do, why would the EU stop trading with such an important customer? Doing so would cut their nose off to spite their face. It would be like if OcUK was supplying a large call centre on the same industrial park and then decided not to continue selling to them because the call centre moved to Liverpool. (but still wanted OcUK's supplies)

Nobody said stop, but there would be a considerable loss on competitive and benefits. And to be honest, why wouldn't Britain want to have a bigger say on where the EU is heading, isolationism is not an option in a global economy.

Common sense prevails :)

Agreed, although I would hope that those with sufficient intelligence to watch a non-mainstream current affairs programme like Newsnight would have the savvy to work that out for themselves.

His unfortunate choice of phrase aside, I can't really dispute the gist of what he was saying. Then again, I'm not blinded by liberalism nor do I immediately classify any negative depiction of black culture as unequivocally racist.

Nice stitch-up job by the oh-so-impartial BBC though, putting him on with those two right-on lefties. Another thrown to the rabid wolves for daring to say what he thinks rather than what's trendy or PC
