This thread is funny as hell... so basically everyone hates Raven because he is actually good at FPS games? He does talk **** a lot but he is good...

/me watches, reads and laughs hard in places

Having shot both in full auto (well, 3-5 bursts for accuracy) I can tell you they are very different guns to shoot.

And they did feel very different in the alpha.

Rightly so aswell, they shoot very different bullets.

As I said, you dont need to do anything other than base the guns on their real life counter-parts, no need to imagine recoil, you just use real life values.

It's not dependant on the bullets, other factors come into play such as training, weapon balance, stance, etc.

How do you tell a computer what real life values are?
It's up to the dev to figure out what feels realistic, or not as in the case of doom 3 (balloon boxes). :P

:D

who gives a stuff about things like that ?

I certainly don't. I played hours + hours of BF as well, so its not like i'm some COD fanboy.

This is the point i'm making. There arent interesting in making variations like that because its not going to attract the mass audience.

EA have made it blatently obvious they are going for Activision's Jugular, and intend on taking COD head on.

Equally, they're trying to take Valve head on with origin as well. Announcing today that it will force you to install origin in the same way that HL2 forced you to install steam. They are going right for valve's jugular and trying to take steams popularity away from them the way they are trying to do with Activision and COD.

Heck they've even copied the same format getting Dice to go a game every 2 years, and then a medal of honour game every 2 years on an altnerate year. So they have 1 new big game out every 12 months.

For EA, this isn't about "LOL CONSOLE DERP" its about making as much money as possible, and playing hardball with the industry heavyweights.

You're making the assumption that a reduction in weapon handling difficulty is required to attract a mass audience. CS is still popular because it actually takes some skill to get the top of the server.

I think where COD succeeded was in game play features such as the party system. BC2 (a team oriented game) could learn allot from this feature in my opinion.

So good he can't link to his stats and anytime he's asked to he blanks the request.

If you'd actually read the thread you would have realised this has been the issue for a good few pages now.

Of course its not completely dependant on the bullet the gun is firing, of course, but that is a factor.

As a dev, you would shoot these weapons, as well as having military consultants (I hear they have Andy McNab and some other gent) and then mould the attributes of the weapons in game to as closely model the real life counterpart as possible.

Which is why im hopefull weapons just won't be clones with different models. :)

I can say from the alpha that it definitely didn't feel like they were :)

The AK was very distinct from the M4 (even tho it was an AK74 which means they are both 5.56)

The weapons all had their unique handling and I'm thinking that in the beta/full release this will be even better!

I think this game is gonna be awesome guys :) I literally cannot wait :s

On the subject of Origin codes I was disapointed that I couldn't use my £10 Coke Zone voucher at the same time as the 20% off voucher.

Turns out there is no minimum spend on the £10 voucher from Coke Zone so I got Crysis Warhead for free.

I don't even have to buy Coke cause a girl at work gives me the codes. Gonna work my way through the £9.99 games.

WTF!!!

Mariette, you ****!

To be fair, I had an ace up my sleeve.

I pre-ordered BF1942 way back in 2009. Had it for over a year on pre-order before they pulled the plug. I paid for the £9.99 pre-order with CokeZone points, so in reality it cost me nothing. I went on the chat thing when they pulled the plug and they gave me a 20% off voucher, which I never used. It was in the old EA Store format and luckily they email you the transcript, which even luckier I still had on an old Gmail account.

So I told her that I was still upset over them pulling the plug on 1943, how much I loved the series and how amazing BF3 looked. Gave her the old BF1943 order number.

How could she say no?

£31.98 with 48 hour early Beta access, Physical Warfare pack AND the Back to Karkan 4 map expansion pack.

Was going to order it from here, but that deal is far too good to turn down. :D
