I maintain that most of the takedowns look absolutely ridiculous and should be replaced with takedowns that kill someone in an effective way not a flashy 'oh em gee that was so cooool' sorta way...

+1 those flashy takedowns will spoil that tiny part of the game for me. Every time I want to do a stealth take down, then instead of him carrying out a simple break of the neck or slit of the throat...MASSIVE ARM DAGGERS STAB YOU 6 TIMES BEFORE I PUNCH YOU 3 TIMES INTO THE GROUND
 
Also not sure I agree on the 'pay extra for bits that really should be in the vanilla game' marketing model that has swept the gaming world.
 
I just find it sad that a Steamworks game has the worst extras by pre-ordering on Steam and you pay a higher price for it too. :/

I pre-ordered the normal version from Shopto, you get the extra mission plus some weapons.
 
You can preorder the PC Augmented version for 27quid if you have a look around.. Runs well on even my old rig.
 
Deus Ex Human Revolution next week

Hey guys ive been hearing good things about this game but am still quite unsure on what it actually is (didnt play the original)

so its a first person game? from what i gather so far it seems kind of like fallout in terms of rpg elements? is it a free roaming world?

and any early pc impressions?

download the demo build leak, it's the first few hours of game play that was sent to magazines/other reviewers.

Very good, definitely a good sequel to deus ex . (and i'm sure people know that's not something said lightly.)

It's a FPS in some sense - if thats how you want to play with TP elements (mostly animation for take downs) - and it has RPG elements - so you can augement different parts of your body to suit your style of play, i.e. more stealth, more strength etc...

I dont think it's open world - but it's not linear either - you can complete objectives in multiple ways - stealth, violent etc... the first game was one of the best of all time - amazing story and mechanics!

Just watch some vids, and like others have said get the demo leaked build...

I booked time off work just to play! :D
