Most bikes above about £1500 don't come with pedals, riders at this level tend to have their own preference and are quite particular about pedals.

The white V8's will look great for about 10mins!

Super light rims are bad.mmmmkaaayyy
hehe :)

DH wheels can also be weak

Had a worrying creaking sound appear tonight, took ages to track down.

The rails on the seat are creaking against the mount as my backside moves around, but the sound was travelling through the frame so it seemed to be coming from the headset area.

Best fix for this? Grease everything including friends and loved ones?

You don't normally have to grease seat rails, take the post off the bike and the seat off the post, give everything a good clean then put it all back together nice and tight.

Greasing of friends/loved ones optional :p

My SDG creaks like a bitch, sticking some wet chain lube where the rails enter the saddle and leaving it upside down overnight cures it for a while.

Its a close one really. The drivetrain on the Voodoo is better with XT vs SLX on the Rockhopper, the brakes are also better on the Voodoo. However, there isn't much in it and one could argue that SLX is stronger than XT and cheaper to replace if it breaks...

However, the frame is probably going to be better on the Rockhopper and according to the spec listed the Rockhopper is nearly 2kg lighter. If it were me, I'd go with the Specialized as it has a good base for upgrades when needed, mainly because of the significantly lighter weight (if correct).

Should I be worried, after my crash yesterday my wrist is still killing me when I use certain motions and my nose is incredibly sore :(

May go A&E in the morning just in case, but don't think anything is broken.

My hand/wrist still hurts from a fall I had in April at Cannock, the hospital said there was no break but weren't 100% sure when looking at the x-ray. Had to wear a splint for a couple of weeks. I couldn't grip anything or move mine for a week it hurt that much.

Your nose will heal and the hospital can't do anything about that but get your hand checked out if it's that bad, if only for peace of mind. Probably a sprain though.

I always spray a little GT85 on the rails between the seat post clamp whenever I wash the bike and it stops any annoying squeaking.

Temporarily retracting my lurker status in this thread to ask a quick question.

I recently got a new job which means I'll be spending September to April around the Blackburn area. Can anyone point me towards some places to ride around there? My local ride is Cannock Chase (I was the guy with the green Handjob and dodgy saddle at the meet). Anything trail or XC is what I like to ride.

Cheers

Quite a bit round there, not too far away from Rivington, Trough of Bowland etc for natural stuff, plus easy access to the lakes, dales, and peaks. Trail centres, Gisburn is close, Lee Quarry not too far down the road, and there are some other small trails around, Billinge Woods in Blackburn has a trail in it, there's also a trail at Healey Nab near Rivington.

There's a group called Blackburn and District bikers, who have a website with a forum I think.
