Far Cry 3 Thread

What made FC1 where the mods and the modding community ubi took that away when they gave us FC2 was nice graphics but the gameplay was just to repetitive all so what was up with the driving must have took them like few hours to make the cars drive the way they did bored the living **** out of me.

All i want is a Far Cry 1 with today's hardware and gameplay :D

I recently installed it as it ran on my system poorly from years back. You know what I can't get over, this game is not what I remember all these years back. I remember everything looking so bushy and detailed. Has Crysis spoiled me?

From memory I do recall Far Cry looking as detailed as Crysis. Sadly I've been let down. Far Cry reminds me of looking back at Quake 3. The guns seem so bland and poorly detailed. Did Far Cry also have such poor draw distance? everything seems to start rendering when you come into the scene... where as everything in the Crysis games is sharp way in the distance.

I can't get over how not having played Far Cry for years my memories of it has been shot to pieces. It's like the same feeling you remember cartoons as a child then you look back at them in the present day and it's not how you remember.

Watched the trailer this morning, it looks nice but a bit arcadey/easy - uber fast weapon switch, probably infinite amounts of ammo - but if it's Far Cry 2 done right I would buy it.

I love Far Cry 2 (apart from the psycho enemies going berserk everytime you drove within a hundred yards of them), that got very tired very quick.

The issues (like the aforementioned) were really annoying, but once you got decent weaponry it wasn’t a major problem and there are a lot of good things in the game and some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve seen in any game. Enjoyed experimenting with the IEDs too. I really enjoyed just roaming the countryside, probably more than the actual main missions, in a Just Cause 2 kind of way.

Definitely buying Far Cry 3.

I must say, this is looking like a darn fine game so far. Perhaps we'll finally get a decent Far Cry again after the mess that was Instincts and FC2.

If nothing else, I'm sure it'll make the upcoming changes to my rig feel justified. :D

2. It's got 'fast travel'

The other main criticism of Far Cry 2 was the sheer amount of schlepping about the map you had to do. Not any more. "I'm not supposed to talk about features, but I'm going to," says Hay, helpfully. "We're going to have fast travel. Everybody asked for it, and we're going to do it... We wanted to make sure moving around the jungle wasn't arduous." He wouldn't say what mechanism you'd use to teleport about, but it's certainly a relief to know it's there

WTF?
Unless I'm severely mistaken I'm fairly sure FC2 had Fast Travel in the form of bus stations?!? OK so limited scope but it was there all the same.

It was pretty rubbish, though. You had to drive all the way to a bus station just so you could fast travel. Hopefully FC3 will have it so you can fast travel whenever the hell you want, just like any other game which implements fast travel.

Just watched the trailer, let's hope it's better than the second. I doubt it will be :(

What I hated about FC2 was the enemy spawning. It was ridiculous. You'd spend ages planning and excuting a sleathly strike on a checkpoint, and then you'd get a mile away and they'd have respawned. In the end I just started ploughing through them and jumping out to gun down the ones left.

I thought the second one was quite good, was a bit slow though, no fast travelling as such. This one definitely looks better on the graphics side of things however.

FarCry 2 was fantastic, but only if you are able to immerse yourself in the world and its ambiance and can overlook few flaws. It is absolutely "love it or hate it" kind of game. When it clicks though...it is fantastic.

I am not happy about leaving Africa, it was awesome and unusual setting in FC2. Tropical Islands? I already played FC1/Crysis/Crysis Warhead/Just Cause 2, thanks :-/

I'm with you on both points.

The repetitiveness of the missions in FC2 was terrible, yet somehow it really had me hooked. One of the most immersive games I've played.

Couldn't agree more about the tropical jungle setting - borrrrrrring.

Really looking forward to this but I hope the enemy AI is all human instead of stupid mutant animals or aliens. The very first Far Cry was brilliant - until the mutants appeared. And the final level was a total immersion killer. Far Cry 2..bleh.

I have high hopes for this upcoming FC3, the graphics look awesome and the enemies seem suitably mad! Lets see what happens. Oh and please Ubisoft no mentalistic choppers that are impossible to take out and appear outta nowwhere when you head too far out to sea etc!!!

Looks great! I know a lot of you guys are going to disagree, but personally I didn’t think much of the original but loved farcry 2. Looking forward to this! Lets hope it doesn’t have a quake style monster/mad scientist in a robot suit shooting fest towards the end.

After the terribly poor show by Ubisoft i fear this game is going to be hard with the DRM and will be delayed for upto a month after the console release :(

Just type pc game delayed into google. You will notice something.

Most of them are for ubisoft games.
