Until now 1971 was the last time the Arrows had a fatality ...
Friday 3rd March 1978, W/C Dennis Hazell and F/Lt Stephen Noble of the Red Arrows were killed when the aircraft in which they were flying never recovered from the `roll back' they were practising with the rest of the team.
Reports saying the pilot stayed with the arrow to ensure it didn't hit any populated areas. Not sure what populated area people are taling about nr Throop but still. If that's what he chose to do to ensure the plane wasn't a threat to other people, then, hero tbh.
