Some inside information from Misco, they are indeed totally sold out from business lines/account managers selling them.

Basically people who do deserve them from Misco.

From a comment on engadget:

Well, I'm done.

What do you expect them to say? "YES ORDER NOW AND WE'LL REFUND THE THOUSANDS OF YOU THE DIFFERENCE, CREATING LOADS OF WORK FOR US" :p

I'm sure refunding the difference will be a lot easier that taking returns under the DSR, they just want as few refunds as possible.

Can't say I blame them, in the low margin business these guys work in you gotta look after your regulars over us lot who likely wouldn't ever buy from there after this one purchase.

My Best Buy order has now changed to "in progress" which is a good sign.

My CPW order is still on "order received" which is bad.

Anyone had any further emails or updates from them?

I'm just going to buy 1 line on the lotto too I think, the odds are better.....although not literally :p

Argos stock system removes them from the stock room count when reserved to make sure reserved stock cannot be sold.

They are pretty dumb at Argos so probably have no idea whats going on with the Touchpad and think that everyone is going to follow through at the price advertised.

Eventually the reservations will run out and they will have loads of stock left - probably return to HP or reduce price then.

"How could you sell out before announcing your price drop? Fishy..."
"sold out of touchpads even though the cart was down for the last two hours & price didn't drop wasn't on twitter"

...

A***holes!

Why because they sold to loyal customers who spend thousands upon thousands with them every month? The same companies, who today have probably ordered Toners, PC's, cables and other equipment from them? lol.
