** Summer Transfer Window 2011/12 Season Rumours/Signings **

If it's perfectly normal...can you name another instance?

Why would Man City risk the extra competition in a year to sign him? No other club has the disposable money as they do so it's never going to be a problem spending 24m on him. But the price isn't surprising whatsoever.

As I said it's crazy to anyone but City, if it was perfectly normal then surely they'd have the competition now?

It's been widely reported that you made a ~£20m bid for him the other month.

As for whether there's any sense in paying that sort of money for Nasri given his contract situation, there's a few factors to consider. First of all there's no guarantee that they'd get him next summer; on a free transfer there's be even greater competition to sign him. You also have to factor in the importance to City (or whoever) in the short term; do they need him this season? And if they miss out on him next summer or if they need the player in the short-term, how much would it cost to buy a comparable player else where? Modric, Sneijder etc are being touted about at anything up to £40m.

Based on all that, paying an extra £7-8m to make sure you get the player and getting him a year early isn't that crazy.

Dont no if its been mentioned, probably not since its not a team in the top 6, but Barton has been given permission to hold talks with QPR and is heading down.

I cant really see him moving there to be honest.

I mean he is still getting games at Newcastle and QPR may be relegated by the end of the season. Also I think him and Warnock would really clash.

Guys please stop arguing to me that it isn't crazy to City, I've already said that :p

It could be argued that it's not crazy to other clubs too :p

Paying ~£8m more now will not only guarantee that you'd get the player but it could possibly save double that if you missed out on him.

edit: For instance, if Nasri had 3 years on his deal and Utd bid £25m for him it would be acceptable. Where's the advantage to Utd in refusing to pay £25m now that he's only got 1 year on his deal, if it means they have to turn their attentions to Modric (for example) who will cost them ~£10m more?

*the above is just an example to explain the reasoning before anybody starts screaming*

QPR were also linked with a move for Scott Parker on SSN this morning :/

I heard that the other day on SSN.

If they sign both its a really good CM partnership but I somehow cant see parker leaving west ham as he is a "loyal" player and I cant see Barton moving incase they get relegated and he is back down in the championship. Especially when he is in no rush as he is still getting regular football at Newcastle.

Time will tell though

Parker will probably go into the Prem on season-long loan. I think West Ham want to shift him for the season then get him back, with a view to them being back in the Prem by then.

If Nasri cost £25m and wanted less than 100k a week it might make sense, but the transfer as it is is madness. Compare it to the Ozil transfer last summer, one of the highest rated youth players in Europe, had a great World Cup and went to Madrid for less than £13m.

Like the Redknapp/Cole quotes, I don't know how true it is but supposedly Pacheco has signed for Atletico Madrid and been loaned straight out to Rayo Vallecano.

If true it will be a bit disappointing. Very talented youngster but unfortunately for him he's been competing for a place in the side (behind the striker) with the likes of Gerrard and Suarez.

edit: the story has come from Marca.

Didnt Ozil have a buyout clause in his contract though?

Yeah but Parker seems to be the loyal type where he would rather help them get back up than sit and wait till they did it by themselves, although 2012 is at the end of this season so maybe he will be wanting to improve his chances of getting into the squad.

Not sure, you might be right which would obviously change things. I know he was in the last year of his contract though.

Still, the amount City are paying for someone in the final year of their contract must be a record.

Baz, it all falls down in real life though. If it was completely normal to pay 8m more now to guarantee you'd get him....then why are only City willing to do it?

Bids are hardly rushing in from all over Europe, the only vague rumour is that apparently we made a bid a while ago. (I have no doubt we enquired, I'm not so sure about the 20m bid though)
