Dont get me wrong, id love to have all the graphics maxed, but if someone is able to spot me before I see them, just because they have the settings turned down... then whats the point of it all?

Yes its for fun and thats all ill play for, have a good time. But if im getting killed and not having a fair crack in that firefight, then it removes the fun as I know that potentially said player could be running the game on low and not having things impeed him.

Of course like everyone having the game look the part helps the immersion and hopefully running the game at max wont be much of a hinderance.

singleplayer missions all maxed out.
Multiplayer for fps rate and less distraction is given especially if you run eyefinity as I do ;)

I think if you manage to run in on max, you'll have the advantage. Your system should be able to max it. And if not, then why did you buy it? :p

IMO I think it's pretty sad if you do that if you aren't really having issues with FPS and that only people who play at a competition level should even consider doing that.

Why? Well it's a game and obviously you must be taking it far to seriously to try and gain an advantage like that. On the other hand I know everyone plays games for different reasons but surely if you step back for a moment and actually think about what your doing it must seem slightly mental? Unless you are practicing and aiming to play at a competition level.

To be fair in some games the advantage to be had is massive. In BF2 the difference between lighting on low and medium was huge, while it looked crap in comparison it would be silly not to take advantage of it.

Completely. Some people will do anything to be top of a faceles internet scoreboard and to be frank its pretty sad.

It's a game, its there to enjoy, max it out and have fun.

some don't enjoy getting whipped and maxing it out.

Indeed. If you're playing competetively, then fine, I can understand as you always have to stay on top the competition, although I would hope that competition rules would state that you have to play it at a certain setting, preferably with high settings as what's the point?

But for casual/homeplay, ALL THE FRILLS THANKS.

I refuse to beleive the difference between 'getting whipped' and 'owning' is purely down to gimping up the IQ.

It does make a difference if you are getting lag because your rig can't handle max IQ. If that lag is getting you killed, whats the point of having the IQ if the only thing you do is stare at a respawn screen.

If you have to lower the graphics quality to not get owned, then you are doing it wrong.

Play better.

Is all to do with the performance of your PC. Try maxing out BFBC2 on a NV 9series or ati 4 series card at 1080p, the performance spikes you going to get will make you die more. So lowering IQ will make you play better. Its not that difficult to understand.

The point was he is running SLI 580's....

if you have a decent rig that can play a game at a constant frame rate at high settings 60fps. Then the only reason to turn down settings is in my mind cheating.

Because the player lacks skill they resort to these steps to get extra kills, and as most people rightly said at the end of the day its only a game.. if you are on public servers there is no point.

Clan Matches or Lan then maybe different but not public servers, it makes all the other players at a disadvantage.

You could be hiding in shrub and some git who has put settings on 1080p LOW, will see you as if you are in a middle of the open desert, totally unfair.
I remember it used to happen when my friend played vietcong although his computer was very bad. trees/shrub would never appear on graphics so we learnt to hide behind rocks which are shown no matter what settings.. still with this we were better than him.

You need to play console games if you think turning IQ settings down is 'cheating'.
