He's doing his job.

People complain when they don't do their job.
People complain when they do their job.

Can't have it both ways, girls.
Agreed.

For anyone that thinks thats a touch on the harsh side, imagine if she had an out of date driving license (£20 renewal fee) which is easily overlooked by many on the road. The fine for this is up to a £1,000 :rolleyes:.

This happened to me end of last summer. To be fair, man on the bike just said to get it renewed soon as, then never mentioned it again. He was more concerned about me having turned right from a 'turn left' only road, only for us to both go back and see somebody had knocked over the 'left only' sign

Ref the original thing, while it may seem a little harsh, it's correct isn't it. I mean you 'buy' insurance to off-set a risk. That risk is based on what you tell them - if you then start doing something that isn't within that risk profile, well why would you expect that the product would still be valid for that usage?

As for the idea that 'it's only a couple of sandwiches' - well, if that's the case then that too would affect the risk profile. Say she said on the insurance proposal that she did say <1k miles a year business, I'd be surprised if it had much affect on her premium at all.

For mine, up to 20k *business* miles a year, it only added 300 quid to the premium.

You buy a product, admittedly a legally required one, then you need to buy the right product to use. I don't see it as that difficult really.

She wasn't insured for the what she was using the vehicle for, simple as. Guess it's a different question as to whether the traffic cop was harsh or not.

Actually, it was turn right only, and I turned left. Kidbrooke slip road for the A2 northbound.

Yes, too much info, but hey, if I've written about that incident on here somewhere before I don't want to be forum raped by the OCUK Pedant Detective Agency.

Anyone just been watching, he stopped the lady for no seatbelt and issued her a ticket, fair enough.

Then he checks her insurance (she delivers sandwiches as part of her job) and because she is only registered for SDP he gives her another penalty notice this one with £200 fine and 6 points.

Absolutely pedantic, there was no reason for it she clearly didn't have a clue about the insurance policy, he could have given her a warning about it but never.

Dozy bint should have been wearing her seatbelt and had the correct insurance.
The rest of us have to. What makes her any different?

Copper is no idiot in my opinion

So if you're using a car for something it's not insured for - well, something similar to this - the insurer still has to pay out...? Is that right?

Even if she had a accident her insurance would cover the 3rd party but may refuse to pay out on her car so as the other road users are protected I think 6 points is a little harsh

Good man. Absolutely correct.

So on a night out or when there's no bin in your sight and you have no tissues do you keep it in your mouth and wait till its all gone funny or do you put it in your pocket?

I wait until I can find a bin.

It's not hard.

hardly crime of the century is it, I bet some of you don't spit chewing gum on the floor in front of other people in case you get done for littering. :p

No one with an ounce of common decency would. IMO People that spit chewing gum onto the floor are knuckle dragging scum - pretty much the same kind of people that refer to the police as 'filth'.

Why didn't she eat the sandwiches before he pulled her over noobs mistake if you ask me.

If she knew she was in the wrong she could have just claimed to be out for a leisurely drive.

Sadly this is the world we live in now, we all know traffic offences are not as important as real crime but the government knows they are more profitable, oh and im not the type of person who spits gum on the floor.

Food multidrop insurance is expensive, perhaps she knew this and got plain SDP, even with the £200 fine she's saved money.

Me and the wife were just saying that. So she's at least taken the effort to insure the car for sdp but now has a 200 fine and 6 points. Compare that with the usual scumbags on these programmes that have stolen cars, no licenses and get virtually nothing.

That'll be why I don't respect the filth.

filth? who are you talking about here? the police??
if so your attitude is shocking and I think you need to grow up a little. oh and FYI its not the police that sentence bullard.

and to the OP, so this lady is technically uninsured should she have a crash....bc i gaurantee you the insurance company will be right out of their should an accident occur..but oh noes the scum police did wrong somehow. what a joke you are.

Out of interest, if you don't specify commuting on your insurance policy does that mean you can never commute?

For example if you normally commute via train but one day the lines are closed you instead need to drive would you be covered?

Or you usually walk to work but sometimes drive if running late?

At what point does it become necessary, feels like a grey area.
