****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I'm a bit underwhelmed, it's not a massive leap forward from the Desire. I need to get a custom ROM on there as at the moment I find it slower to use than my cm7'd Desire. I don't know if I like amoled either, it makes photos look noisy... Don't you just hate it when a new gadget is bit of a let down? :(

The camera is pretty good though, that's a big step up :)

Noisy images? Slower than Desire?

Are you sure you have been using an SGSII and not something else??!

This is the fastest Android out bar none but you can't really compare a custom rom to a stock one, this smokes the Desire in every department.

I like the default browser (not a fan of Dolphin hd, Opera etc.) and it's not as responsive as I'm used to. It looks like there issues with the standard browser in some roms although I think Batista has fixed that? I use flickfolio a lot and it looks pretty poor now, that could be an app issue (running at a low colour depth) although the live wallpaper with the windmills looks poor with visible gradients.

As I said previously, I think the phone might just be overkill for what I need (just calls, texts, plenty of browsing and occasional gaming).

Or better yet, Oxygen 2.2.2 just released and has HD camera now and lots of options so get that instead :)

To be fair to the chap above cm7 on the desire is lighting. So my advise is to get cm7 on the Sammy. Runs like a treat

I don't like this rom tried this version of it and its rather basic to me, still can't see what all the fuss is about, its certainly something I won't use on mine.

New phone time!

Joke :)

Just go back into recovery and flash after a wipe of everything again or back into Download Mode then reflash via Odin if that's what you used.

Think he means he can't get into recovery at all, wouldn't a USB jig sort that out?

Tried the keys for recovery, just boots to logo with yellow triangle.

Only thing i can get into is download mode.

Would a USB Jig let me into recovery?

I had to download and install KE2 via Odin to repair mine after a lighteningROM install.

Any chance you can link me to the exact one?

The amount of different kernels/firmware things is confusing me now :)

Thanks.

As for the USB Jig, i might purchase one as a last resort, if KE2 does not prevail.

cheers brummie :)

If it works, bagged yourself £5.

Hoping it does flash :).

As its 300MB, how do i flash it through ODIN? or just use the zImage like with the others?

Thanks :)

Fire up Odin and click the PDA button only and select the file.

Read this page (first AKA original post) but start from the heading 'Flashing Firmware with Odin'

Put phone in download mode, connect to usb, open odin(make sure it picks the phone up! should turn yellow "COM"), select pda browse, find file & hit start. Providing it is just 1 file.
