****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I think so but I'd definitely recommend Batista70 ROM over Lite'ning having used both now I can confirm the look and feel of batista is a bit nicer, the battery life is definitely better and it comes with the Samsung bundled apps (all the "hubs") removed as well.

It's also evry very fast and has additional tweaks compared to Lite'ning.

To be fair to the chap above cm7 on the desire is lighting. So my advise is to get cm7 on the Sammy. Runs like a treat

cm7 installed, FlickFolio dumped (gradient banding issues) in favour of JustPictures, and everything is ticking along much nicer now :)

Now to have a look at video and tegra support...

Or better yet, Oxygen 2.2.2 just released and has HD camera now and lots of options so get that instead :)

Is this on the SGS2 or still the Desire? The back button on my Desire has become a little temperamental so it needs to be replaced. Also the reason I'm having to recycle it rather than sell. 95% of the time the button is fine, sometimes though it needs a hard push which sometimes results in it going back two steps instead of one... :(

I will get this then :).

Hello again folks. Ok im being very cautious atm . Ive established my kernel is KG2 (voda firmware) and ive located 3 cf root kernel files. Which one do i use (it doesn't really say on the xda forums.CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4 ...... CF-Root-SGS2_JP_XSG_KG2-v4.1-CWM4 ....... CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG2-v4.1-CWM4

My exact kernel listed atm on phone is currently 2.6.35.7-I9100BUKG2-CL342890 root@DELL102#2.

Sorry if i seem dim, but doing the original SGS and odin i have no problems with, i just need to make sure with the SGS II. Thanks

From what I read this morning it's not supposed to matter too much. I've only had my SGS2 for a day though so probably better to wait for someone with more knowledge! :)

Well it won't brick really as you can get back into recovery and flash a new kernel easily :p

Just flash XX_OX*.

Simples.

Thanks.. yes I would like to make sure, my sgs 2 is 26 hours young :-). I'm hopeful someone will know :-)

XX_OXA is 2.3.4.

Where as the other 2 are 2.3.3.

Apparently, depending if your phone is 2.3.3 or 2.3.4.

You choose the corresponding kernel.

So OXA if its on 2.3.4

One of the other 2 if its 2.3.3.

Hope this helps.

how do you increase the volume on these devices? someone said about a config file?

Try this Jimlad:

volume boost.
Enter this number *#*#197328640#*#*
This will open the service mode menu.
Select option [5] AUDIO
Select option [1] (VOICE CALL)
Select option [2] HEADSET
Select option [1] Volume
Select option [1] SRC Speech RX Volume
Select option [5] 5_lvl : 87
Press the menu button (left side)
Choose Key Input
Enter a value between 0 and 100, with 100 the loudest setting.
Press ok
Then press the menu button and select back this will save (don't use the right side back key you normally use to navigate the phone or you will quit out of the settings).
Keep selecting the menu and back until you exit the service mode menu.
You will also note you can change volume settings for other things like Bluetooth, handsets, video call etc.

I would never buy something like that it would have to be a universal sound device that way it can be ported from device to device. Or you could be stuck with a device that wont fit your next upgrade:eek:

i have the latest litening rom on my phone and am actually finding the battery life worse than stock.

can you install the Batista70 ROM over litening without losing anything?

also is it really as simple as installing i all from the phone without using odin?

cheers fella....

yeah i wish all android phones would have some sort of standard mount dock, then we would see some nice devices like iclone users get :D

You can install without wipe but you might get problems. best to wipe really. Installing without Odin is far easier if your ROM supports it. Batista does. It also has built in CWM manager and extended power menu so just long press power and choose recovery and flash the new rom update from there once you've got Batista or equivalent installed.
