****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

CWM recovery you mean?

all i got it

android system recovery <3e>
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

that it.

i rebooted the phone via clockworkmod app,

the google backup apps thing is pretty lame, it seems to backup at random times, i restored once and it was well old and out of sync. wish they would update and allow u to backup online whenever u want, would then be able to solely use that instead of titanium backup

i rooted S2 by this guide http://www.inspiredgeek.com/2011/04...ng-odin-and-superoneclick-step-by-step-guide/

it worked fine,

downloaded ROM manager app, flash clockworkmod recovery, selected S2, successfully downloaded clockworkmod recovery.

then what??? there is no guide anywhere how to use/install clockworkmod recovery

i managed rooted and installed custom ROM's on G1 and desire without any problems in the past.

i have no idea why it wouldnt work on S2

any help would be brilliant thanks

re that guide you used, it's probably not a good idea to use a guide that's 4 months old, especially when it links to firmware that is many revisions out of date. If i were you, I'd download XXKH3 from intratech's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 then 'cf-root' using the kh3 rooted kernel here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399. instructions on how to do both are in the threads. cf-root includes cwm and other apps in the package so you have nothing else to install. That's if you want a rooted stock firmware of course, there are always the custom firmware options like cm7, lite'ning, miui, batista ect

Once you're back on track you'll be ROM jumping in no time!

Sorry to hijack this reply :( So using both those threads would I do the following:

1. Download xxkh3 and use odin to upgrade the firmware.
2. Use Odin to apply the cf-root of kh3
3. Apply stock kernal
4. done or add custom rom?

I think I have now got my head around flashing and rooting I just havent bit the bullet yet and gone through with it..

Cheers

step 2 and step 3 are the same thing.

flash kh3 with odin, root with kh3 cf-root

I'm still running the standard Samsung ROM (haven't done anything beyond the official updates) but is anyone else having problems after a call? Often i'll finish a call (made or received) and the phone will just stop responding to anything for 5-20 seconds and even once I had to pull the battery as it was just a blank screen and no buttons would do anything! Anyone else had anything like this?

Nope, I never had anything like that with stock KE7/KF3 or Custom ROMs :(.

Any idea on how Vodafone or Samsung would handle a return?
I've had the phone for around 1 month.

I've ordered a USB jig so I can restore the phone and flash counter to stock.

Will 4000 mAH more really make that difference though?

Well, I guess it's a quarter on top again. If you managed 20 hours before, you might get 25 with this battery. I like the idea, but it adds thickness. I'd like to know exactly how heavy the phone is with this battery.

Not a fan of batista. So much bloat on it and I get better battery life on Modaco.

6 hours standby dropped only 1% last night.

Currently have 1h40min on battery, 82% left and thats with 1h20min of Poweramp whilst ready 1hr of comics (full brightness). of that 18% battery loss, 82% (14.72% of the battery loss) was just from the display, so seems a goodun to me.
