Star Wars blu ray sept 2011

Quite a few of my Star Wars geek mates have cancelled their orders as it would appear Lucas has been tinkering again. Rumours of CGI yoda in the original 3, remastered and added sound effects on top of the remastered video for the last release. I think i'll wait and see what the general consensus of opinion is on the changes before ordering, that plus Lucas will no doubt release 5 other different versions means i will get the version i want at some point.

No offence to Lucas. But i wish he suffered some non fatal and painless accident that nonetheless caused him to be unable to work again shortly after the release of Return of the Jedi.

For Gawds sake man, you are making them worse !

There is no way that will happen. Is there...? If he does that he is taking one almighty dump on Frank Oz. As good as CG is there is something utterly lifeless about it, something they still cant get right.

I loved all the original model type ships and creatures. Oz, Henson and Harryhausen were/are genius'. They felt a hell of a lot more real.

I dont want to knock CG as it has been used brilliant effect in a lot of films but I just dont think it works for main/real characters. people will point to the like of Avatar, which was spectacular and the effects were amazing... but it still felt like watching a cartoon.

I will still be getting this box set though, with or with out digital Yoda!

I've had this ordered since 15th of February when a certain wesbite first put it up for pre-order.
Since then there has been an "exclusive film cell" added to the item and on logging into my account earlier the price has dropped to £57.37.

Top stuff.

Hmmm, just did a quick google about this CGI Yoda stuff and came across these 2 vids from The Phantom Menace:

Original Puppet

CGI

Thoughts?

I completely agree. Even so I've still had mine on order since they were availible to go on pre-order.

Here's to hoping they have the original theatrical versions included.

even if cgi still is missing some things to make creatures/people realistic it is still a lot better than the thunderbird puppets ;)

i think people just like to moan, reality is the cgi yoda looks so much better than the puppet version in the original trilogy

I have to agree there, it's one of the rare things about the original trilogy that brings me out of it. The key to Muppets is that they don't look realistic, with Yoda it reaches that Uncanny-Valley section, where you look past it and just see rubber.

OMG they changed something!!!1

If that was in there from the beginning, people wouldn't be complaining about it.
