Putting on Weight

Post up an example of what you eat on a daily basis.

MORNING:

Bowl of Cereal, always.

LUNCH:

Sandwhich/Crisps/Choc or if i'm at work, i'll pop into my local Morrisons and get some pasta. Also, somedays i could have fish/chips/beans or jacket potato for example, so varies day by day but will almost never skip lunch.

DINNER:

Again, varies from Chicken/Meat Curries to Pizza/Burgers/Chips etc..but again a meal i won't skip..

I also tend to snack in between meals, on the whole i'd say that's a fairly standard day for me. My portions i guess could be bigger but when in the past i've tried increasing them, i've physically been/felt sick..

worrying lack of food. especially when comments like 'almost never' are included meaning that some days you just eat a bowl of cereal and a small portion dinner

find something you like and eat lots of it

When I was skinny I joined a gym and started training/eating to gain clean weight. It's taken me many years but now I'm 13stone and still lean. This is the route I would recommend. Head over to the sports forum if you need some more advice.

You don't eat enough - it's that simple. I'm 6'3 and used to eat hardly anything and was skinny as a rake. I fell for the "fast metabolism" BS hook, line and sinker. The truth is, I wasn't eating anywhere near as much as I thought.

/edit: as long as you have a clean, high calorie (and high protein) diet, you'll be well-placed to put on clean weight. Especially if you get yourself to a gym and start regular strength training.

You're not eating enough and the stuff you're eating isn't good enough, pizza and curry every night might not put fat round your waist but it won't be doing you insides any god at all.
At 6 ft + your quite a big lad so you need to eat a lot more calorie dense food than what you're getting presently.

Thats the route I took, I used to be really skinny and thought I ate well. Joined a gym and ACTUALLY started eating well and now I'm about 13 stone and not fat.

Cut out eating the crap like burgers and chips, eat lots of things like chicken, eggs, and wholewheat foods, skimmed milk etc. Combine that with a decent gym routine and you'll put on weight without getting fat! :)

Start playing World of Warcraft?

Lol I was going to say that, 4 years in a raiding guild eating junk food and drinking many cans of coke/fanta every day will sort you out some pretty epic weight gain. :)

Sadly I know this from experience. :(

I was once the same... always eating crap. But when I started to eat healthier foods and eating more pasta, I put quite a bit of weight on and feel so much better for doing so.

But as suggested, eat more; obviously, don't make yourself sick. :)

hmm, some interesting food for thought. Guess i'm not eating nowhere enough for a guy my size, it's difficult to break out of the routing im currently in, as i'm so used to it, will start with bigger portions first i think and see how i go. I'm definately getting signed upto a gym too, that's another re-occuring pattern you guys seem to state!

From what you posted you really don't eat a lot. I am surprised it gives you enough energy to live. your should eat more, much more food. Serials for breakfast is nothing. Also snacks in between.

Really it does not sound you have a high metabolism you simply do not eat enough. Find out how much calories you take then increase that every week.
