****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

had a SGS2 for 11 days had 2 reboots and 1 occasion where the phone switched it's self off! stock rom

purchased it from mobiles.co.uk can I take the phone into CPW and let them have a look at it?

Does anyone know of a decent desktop clock app?

My old HTC had a nice simple one, but all the ones I've found on the market are frankly awful (plus they've all been static and I don't particularly want screen burn-in!)

Just looking for a simple clock on a black screen, that shifts position at a set interval.

Surely you've seen my photo of Kaloer Clock running? It is perfect for that and has a screensaver mode to stop screen burn on led screens.

It also has one of the best alarm clocks as well.

Once I rooted and disabled all the hubs and wifi sharing nonsense, my battery life is now insane. The phone was left for 36 hours and stayed at around 80%. I am really happy with this.

Now to try and get Kairosoft games not to drain the battery in 2 hours...

Also- I was under the assumption that switching from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 would wipe everything. It didn't for anyone who is holding back from using a samfirmware update for fear of a wipe.

i've just got 6days 6hours out of my S2 with sms, some internet usage with wifi (not everyday) , 15-20min of music playback, afew other things.. still have 9% left.....

i admit it maybe under light usage but it's still good

I have a bit of a problem with data/broadband usage on the GS2.

My problem is after I unlock the phone, and open the browser. The browser appears to timeout on the connection and tell me to check my signal. This problem continues for what could be up to an hour. During this timeout problem, my signal strength is full and even occurs when I'm on wifi.

Dunno what to do. I'm on 3 network. Could a root and rom resolve this problem?

thx.

I............... may have! Although you made me check the alarm app that I use (Gentle Alarm) and it does indeed have a "slow anti-screen burn" mode :D

Huzzah, perfect :D

Cm7 is great. Missing my bln notifications though.

Ps3 pad plus snes, n64, psx etc is awesome.

I'm a bit annoyed that the dev has asked people not to make oc or bln kernels for it.

Yeah, I can understand why he's done it though. As having 10 different kernels for it whilst he's still reversing stuff is only going to massively complicate any feedback he gets.

Once it's out of nightlies I know I've seen Hacre say that he'll be releasing his (Ninphetamine) kernel for it :).

Has anyone ever seen screen burn on a smart phone?

**EDIT** Oh sorry, as a desktop clock, I see. As in, you'll leave it on for hours on end?

Have you actually activated the Data Roaming services on your mobile :)

Even if you signal is full, that is only for incoming/outgoing services - phone calls, texts etc. Not for internet usage.

If you cannot see a H or a G on your notifcations bar with up and downward arrows then you dont have data activated.
...........................

Follow step-by-step.

Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile networks > Select; Use packet data + Data roaming.

This should now make it work, test, and enjoy :).

In a case where it doesn't work, reboot your phone, and then if it persists, go into a local phone store for it to get sorted :) but this way worked for me.

i installed Oxygen last night, but although very minimal not as snappy as Batista rom. waiting for cm7 to get a rc1 out, should be soon!

Well my mate left his on the back of his Vespa seat and rode off. Went back to get it and it has dented the mental frame running round the edge. He is thinking of selling it to me for £185 as he can't bare the damage, will deffo snap that up as the damage is pretty small.

My Samsung omnia is falling to pieces after 1 year old son started playing with it :(

You can buy complete S2 housing kits online now, buy the phone off him, buy the housing and do some DIY for a brand new S2 :D

just snapped one of these beauties up for £380. cant wait to get it. :D giving my desire hd away.

Don't know why people buy it sim free. It works out roughly the same anyway once you factor in your sim only plan.

Guys does this bln notification thing work on stock roms? is there a better notifcation app? I just want the led to come on when I receive a text or missed call. Phone is running kf3 rooted.

edit: seems i need a bln kernel, fair enough, but which kernel do i choose and will it work with stock kf3?
