Star Wars blu ray sept 2011

Im not that fussed about the additions. Its Lucas' baby and he's put them in there to complete it how he had originally foreseen it I guess. Not sure Im going to spend £60 on them though.

I must admit to never actually having watched these films. Definitely gonna get the box set and give it a try!

I'm all for keeps the puppets and real sets going, but that yoda puppet in episode 1 was the worst I'd ever seen, and I'm glad they've replaced it. I mean the original yoda puppet from the tesb and rotj was a million times better than what they created in episode 1.

I think I'll buy the set regardless of the changes as I'm such a huge fan of the original triology and would love to see everything rematered.

why are people getting so worked up ?

I've seen Return of the Jedi loads of time, but without going back and watching, i can't see whats different in the new blu ray version ?

its such a minor change i don't get why everybody is so uptight about it.

Star Wars is peoples childhood and memories, you dont mess with those, its the noises and the sounds that people remember as much as anything else!

I am also one of those people that saw at cinema when it was first released, and really not a huge deal. this is minor. if you are a fan, seriously how can you pass up HD because of couple of sounds??? 2 sec compared to 10+ hours!

Buying full set over the counter on the day so I dont have to hike (seemingly) half way across london to my delivery depot as I cant be in when it would normally be delivered.

Really cant wait - not sure what state I will be in on Tuesday, as I will definitely be watching IV, V & VI back to back after work

The first few seconds of A New Hope and it will be just like Im 6 again watching it with a huge grin on my face (ok - and a beer lol) watching the blockade runner appearing over my head........

I don't mind the cgi changes or add nooooooo etc

Changing scenes like Han shooting after being shot at by greedo is a big no no.

Totally changes the aspect of the characters. Also as if one of the best bounty hunters would miss from across a table

Your mistake is asuming hewas one of the best when in actuall fact he was nothing of the sort

The change doesn't really bother me the two shots are now shown so close together that it makes no odds who pulled the trigger first both were clearly going for there guns and happy to use them.

Exactly how I have always seen the scene since 1977 when I first saw it :)

i can understand the saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. that said the movies are too good to pass up on blu ray and i learn to live with them, even if sometimes i find myself asking why about some changes, while others are welcomed

anyway not sure why people are getting all worked up since i bet these same people own the DVDs that had many many more changes

here is a recap
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_changes_in_Star_Wars_re-releases
so let's consider ourselves lucky the blu ray versions really didn't add that many in comparison

Thats another good point

There were lots of subtle changes the last time they re released Episodes IV to VI on DVD and people whinged then.

Doubt anybody can remember them all now.

My bad he was a noob :D

Still can't wait for all these films. Never watched Starwars in 5.1 :)

It's amazing how many changes there have been over the years. Lucas has deffinately been busy destroying or improving the films however you feel about it.

Looks like there will be a 3D set next year..

In September 2010, it was announced that the Star Wars films will be released in 3D beginning in 2012 with the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Sorry I did try to resist but my inner geek wouldn't allow it!

I've never owned the films on DVD the last set I purchased was the VHS boxset of the special editions. I might finally give in this time and buy them even if it does mean inviting the despised Jar Ja thing into my house for the first time.
