***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

I think grass is the biggest issue with the more powerful cars especially when on the 'ring as it's so thin, had many an online race ruined by clipping a rear wheel on the grass slightly :(

The Murcielago SV is a proper handful to drive, and that's with a PS3 controller :p

Managed to do the Formula Gran Turismo races afterward, it wasn't as difficult after a bit of practice. Now I just need to do the NASCAR Series and Dream Car Championship then I can get to work on the Endurance races. Though I may wait until the inevitable mid-race save update.

Changing oil then fiddling with gearing is the key to victory :)
Going long or short on gearing depending on the track is the difference between winning and losing, as I found out the hard way when I used short gearing on Monza and forgot that it includes quite a long straight.
I ended up hitting the rev limiter because the straight was rather longer than I remembered and I'd set the top speed too low (I did this before we had custom gearing options, damn PD and their unfinished game heh). In order to stay in the lead I had to play slightly dirty and ram anyone that passed me on the straight so they ploughed into the barrier at the end :D

All in all, I didn't enjoy that championship a great deal, especially as I also couldn't save between races like you can now and had to do the full 120 laps in one sitting.

Thanks. It was boring as hell, mainly because after the first corner I hardly ever saw the other cars again, plus there seemed to be an AI bug on the Nurburgring GP circuit, on the final chicane the CPU cars span out on every lap. Just about to do the Dream Car Championship and that's it for Extreme Events. :)

Oh yeah, the beneficial bug on that circuit, honestly I'd forgotten about that (first noticed it in B-Spec) until I got to the race itself. Figured I'd probably be in last because I dislike that circuit intensely until I noticed the AI continually spinning out on that corner. It's a piece of the curb that's a little too high that the AI clips as they drive through that corner at speed, sending them spinning off every single time :)

Ah, I was going to go into the replay and see what was causing it but I'd had enough of that track after the 20 laps, I couldn't endure another one. :p

Just finished the Extreme Series, Special Events time now, really not looking forward to any of them. :(

A couple of the special events are ok but mostly I disliked them. I want to race, not fiddle about with special events where you're disqualified for a tiny little touch or clipping the track edge. Though at least you have the advantage of a patch that was released that included a tweak to the way disqualification works. You used to be DQ'd for even looking at another car but they've changed it now so you can bump them at some speed without penalty.
Instead, you have to be careful of clipping the track edges, go off more than a small amount and you're DQ'd. That's better than being DQ'd for hitting other cars though as you can avoid the track edges rather more easily than dumb AI cars :D

:D

I'm not even competitive on the rally stages, for some reason any car I try handles like absolute crap on those tarmac rally tracks. Even though they're clearly on a good road surface there's hardly any grip whatsoever. That Grand Tour event where you have to drive the Murcielago in the night is absolutely terrible. :(

It's called, La Festa Cavillino I believe. Do the circuit de la sarthe race over and over. You get 500k/3:30mins

Can't believe I had done those yet never recognized the name... nor did I know you can grind them endlessly.

Any other events to get some decent race suits...

Have you tried the Lotus event? can't remember the name, expert? first white badge near the middle of the selection. That Lotus Elise is extremely hard to drive. Nearly completely sliding sideways around some corners.
