****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

lol i have one, my vespa is a sunday drive kind of thing :D

mrk, you still use go launcher? did you see the settings widget?

Yes, yes. I don't use switch type widgets though, the Samsung notibar does that without having to dirty my beautiful layout with a switch widget!

Yeah, I didn't see their new widget as anything special. There are a multitude on the market that will do that if you want, and most of them look better than Go Launchers attempt. Why are you so keen on it Jimlad? What does it have all these others don't?

best. phone. ever. to date. :p only gripe coming from a desire HD is the lightweight feeling of the build quality... bit off putting. battery life seems soooo much better than the desire HD. took it off charge this morning and its only gone down 1 bit

That was a gripe of mine when I first got the phone, now I've got used to it any other phone just feels heavy.

dunno really, i like the way it expands down, have you seen or recommend others that do the same?

Well, there are quite a few, Extended Controls was one, very configurable. I've not tried the Go Launcher one though, that's why I ask what is special. How does it expand down? Do you just mean it can be a 4 by 2 or 2 by 2? There was another one that could be a widget of pretty much any size, but I don't remember what it was called :(

its a 4 x 1 widget, once you click on it, it will expand down as a whole page with tones of options. give it a try.

anyone know what happens when you lose the phone and do a remote wipe/lock with samsung dive? will it come up saying your phone has been reported as stolen etc? or say you've remotely wiped your phone or anything? or will it simple say locked? how would someone unlock it if it lost it? as silly as it sounds say i lost my phone and quickly wiped it so no one could get my details off it, and then locked it. could they just take it to a store and say i need to unlock this and they'll just say you need to prove your name is xxx xxx and then they'll know who it belongs and locked it any way?

Samsung Dive said:
If you wipe your mobile, you can no longer use the SamsungDive service with your mobile.
(You can use the "Remote Controls" feature when you locate your phone and register it.)

So the idea is to lock it first leaving a message on screen:

WidgetLocker and use one of the iPhone style slider themes
On the homescreen or in the apps drawer? If the latter then GoLauncher EX like I have done (see below) if the former then any homescreen launcher that supports folders. Or Simi Folder off the Market.

mrk: so the safest thing would be to remote lock and not wipe as then you'd lose samsung dive abilities? what happens if you lock it and they try unlocking it with a wipe? could they simply take it into a samsung store or whatever and then say this is my phone it's been locked i need it back?

If you lock it using Dive then the message on screen won't go away until you enter the correct unlock code which only you will know. No shop or Samsung outfit is going to help anyone going to them with a phone that's been locked over the air by its original owner.

perfect, thanks

Well all you have to do is leave a contact number and suitable message to make it obvious on the locked out message in Dive and nobody will think twice about who it belongs to.

so what roms are people on and why?

I'm running stock at the moment. Got the phone back yesterday after nearly four weeks being repaired and haven't flashed anything yet as I'm not convinced the issue has been fixed.

Used my old Desire whilst the SGS2 was being repaired. Having now got this thing back in my hands all I can say is wow, forgot how good this device actually is. Its like having a brand new toy again:D. The Desire is showing its age now.

How much are these new and sim free at the mo? Had an iP4 for over a year now and i'm fancying a change......
