Vivid Dreams

Revived this thread as I couldn't find the one that was full of lucid dream informations.

Just wanted to get the opinion of people who can lucid dream as i think I may have had one last night.

I was asleep and in my dream I was looking outside and it was snowing heavily. There was about 2 foot of snow covering my street and my car was just a big pile of snow. As I was looking out of the window I suddenly realised that it was September and although it wasn't exactly hot out, it was impossible that it could be snowing.

Then suddenly I realised I was dreaming and everything became vivid and in focus. It felt like I was actually awake and i was there and I knew this in the dream. I actually thought to myself that I should try and walk outside, but as soon as I went for the door I woke up :(.

Any tips on how to stay asleep once you realise you're dreaming?

Is there anyway you can enduce vivid/lucid dreams?

LSD

I am always half awake in my dreams, in the morning especially I can partially sculpt what I'm dreaming about and can often get back into a dream if woken up. I also fall asleep usually within a couple of minutes of hitting the pillow too :D

Lots of flying/super power dreams from watching too many comic book movies, great fun though

Mark - if I want to get back to a dream I just zone out, let my mind wander then try and focus on what the dream was about and usually get back into it, until another bus comes past anyway

Why are some dreams far more vivid than others?, i had a dream last night that i was in a volcano. It was so real atleast it came across like that, i could see the inside of the volcano and the lava coming in on all sides. I tried to escape but the lava would come towards me, the only part that was safe was a piece of land that seemed to be floating above it but was slowly collapsing!.

Screenshot or it didn't happen.

Edit: Damn necro thread! :P

Last vivid dream I had was a few days ago.

Having a life like dream where you're kissing one of your girlfriends friend is very weird :o

Imagine having a life like dream that your actually doing one of your girlfriends friends. I did. Morning's were extremely uncomfortable for several reasons. This went on for a few months as well.

I just rollover, focus on it and it comes back. You do have to be very relaxed for it to happen.

My last nights dream was one of the weirdest I've ever experienced. I dreamt I was on stargate atlantis, brought some zero point energy device things to the city and activated loads of systems and the ancients (like ghosts for those that havent got a clue what I'm talking about) tried to murder me lol. Turned into a weird survival horror scenario! Seriously freaky stuff.

Really dodgy thing is I havent seen that show in about 2 years :D

This.

When I'm awake, I know it's life/reality, but when I'm in-dream, it's so vivid that I think it's real until I wake up. Is this normal or not?
Yes, that is the most normal type of dreaming. Those who aware that they are dreaming, seek out patterns within them, and attempt to control their dreams based on that knowledge are the ones who consider themselves "lucid".

Yes, I can't control my dreams, end/change a dream or force wake-up unless I set the alarm clock or body clock kicks in. Thanks a lot for confirming :-)

Thanks, will try next time. It was the weirdest feeling ever, felt like I was awake, but I was dreaming. It would have been epic if I could have stayed asleep for a little longer and explored a bit.

I had a read on wiki and it appears that suddenly waking up once you realise its a dream is common. Then again if I hadn't have woken up I probably wouldn't have remembered the dream.

Had a vivid dream a few nights ago involving thousands of Jellyfish chasing after a friend who had jumped in the sea, and then switching to the middle of a woodland and having tiny elephants (kind of chihuahua size) screeching and biting everyone... Woke up wondering if someone had been slipping me LSD in the middle of the night :p

As a child I used to have episodic dreams which lasted for years. Now as an adult I dream rarely, but when I do they are vivid and generally disturbed.

I do however suffer from sleep paralysis often, which continues to scare the hell out of me just as much as the first time I recall experiencing it. Always feels like dying (whatever that is supposed to feel like).

*shiver*

Did you watch "Seven Pounds" and/or "The Mummy Returns" recently? :)

I do sometimes have very vivid dreams, they often seem to get interrupted part way through by me waking up though - almost as if the vivid dreams don't actually happen until I'm in the process of waking up. I hate not being able to recapture the dream when I try and go to sleep again. :(. Or, maybe what this means is that vivid dreams happen a lot, but I only remember having ones after which I quickly become conscious....

I also wake up in a panic thinking that I've fallen over in my dream because my legs weren't working about once a month.

My most vivid dreams were really horrible and frightening ones I get when I'm ill/sickening. It's almost always the same one - A thin thread strung horizontally over the bath with white in the background. A drop then forms and falls from the middle of this thread, then two, then three, until there's loads pouring into the bath and my view switches to looking into the bath, where the water becomes brown and black and starts churning, and then my view zooms into it and just watches this horrible churning water an it's really frightening, and then I wake up and have difficulty going back to sleep.

I wouldn't be completely surprised if you could deduce things about someones life from their dreams as they are the product of the unconscious mind of that person, but I don't bother reading into these things.

I very rarely remember my dreams but this morning i had the most vivid and disturbing dream.

All of a sudden i could feel things crawling inside my skin, i looked down at my left arm and it was like a piece of extra flesh had grown out of my arm and around this flesh was some sort of white device with a blue light in it. The flesh had joined to this device.

Then i could see things crawling under my skin and then on the back of my hand there were worm like things slightly sticking out of my skin so i pulled one out in terror and threw it in a toilet. Everyone around me was going mental as they were scared and i was panicking cos i could feel all these worms inside me.

I think that is the most bizzare dream in my life, especially considering i very rarely dream :P

I rarely remember my dreams, not sure if i normally dream at all but last week i had a pretty vivid dream about call of duty, kept thinking i was in the game and felt like i was drifting in and out of dreaming about it. It was weird so i stopped playing call of duty before bed. I'm thinking maybe i ate something or something else. I've had dreams like this before, one was about spreadsheets which was odd. Absolutely hate these dreams, i wake up feeling like i didn't get any sleep at all and am tired for the rest of the day.

Lucid dreams are awesome, but whenever I realize I'm having one, I try to control it too much and end up waking up.

Same. Usually I try to have teh buttsex but I can never imagine it well enough to be good. I also can't imagine a fit bird well enough when I try to.

I almost always realise I'm dreaming when it gets violent. Then I usually have super powers and can stop swords with my arms and punch people away and am impervious to bullets.
