** F1 2011 - Official Thread **

In recent years the major EA Sports games have only improved in quality, especially in the case of NHL and NFL which only get better with each passing year. The idea that EA Sports just update the teams and stick a different number on the box is a stereotype which hasn't been true for a number of years now. :)

Thanks, but I was talking about the old ones if you read the quote again. You're right though.

I guess we'll have to wait and see next Friday when the suckers (me) buy it on release day!

I made that mistake with F1 2010. Never again!

lol same her. We've got a baby on the way next Jan so space is an issue and not only that funds are much lower, so this needs to be really good so i'll wait for reviews and what everyone says about it before handing over the cash...

Congrats on baby BTW.

cheers fella, and likewise :)

I just fired up 2010 for a few laps of monza - bladdy brilliant fun. If this is an improvement it will be awesome :D

I've already got it on pre order, even though the first one was practically unfinished when it first came out the racing itself is quality! This one 'should' hopefully be what the first one should have been what with another 12 months development time into it.

I believe the AI's qualifying and practice times are actually done on the track in 2011 as well now rather than being totally fictional as they were in 2010!

Presume there will be some OCUK grand prixs setup at some point?

the only problem i really had was the pitstop one, that was easy enough to get round till they patched it.
really enjoyed the game and had great fun online with 6-7 mates from work

got it on pre-order also
i dont really look at what others say about a game, i like to see for myself

The career mode was poo in the last one. I hope they have added polish. Beat your rival nick his drive. Win the title and don't even get a new deal and even some of the lesser teams didn't want you.

I'm waiting on Ocuk play testers this time. Far too many bugs and niggles in the last one.

Any info on if the pit release is fixed in 2011 compared to 2010? everyone called into the pits together and you end up going first -> last because for whatever reason everyone else's pit crew is always faster.

Same mate, I have no steering wheel and don't play online too often so Im in the same shoes.

I'll be sure to add you later!

*goes to check the PS3 names thread*

EDIT - you're not on there Sinny, what's your PSN?

It's Samage89, I don't go on my PS3 often (or consoles for that matter), at the minute as I've just sold F1 2010 which is the only game I really play :D.

I did start an official thread but due to time constraints couldn't keep up with the effort of adding to it, but there's all you'll need to know about the game on CM's forum... maybe too much.

There's a load of videos on there, some even capturing the safety car gameplay, so it's kinda spoiling it a bit for me which is why I'm not watching them anymore :)

Really looking forward to this game, might place my shopto order tomorrow!

Been reading that Codemasters have introduced a new spectator mode where you can view incar of other cars and ride onboard or watch a race unfold when you crash out.

Problem is, its online only. So if you’re playing single player you can’t from what I can gather watch the AI drive around the track.

I remember back in the GP4 days riding onboard with the AI was a great way to quickly learn the driving lines. I simply do not understand why codemasters haven’t managed to get this working correctly, its been in Geoff Crammonds F1 since F1GP on the Amiga..

One possible reason, and not to be too controversial. Scripted AI again is it? I don’t know, Eurogamer Review read like its more like a skin update with fixes to the bugs last time around rather then re-invention of the game..

Might be waiting for this one to plummet in price before handing over my cash if I’m totally honest. I’m a huge F1 fan, but nothing has ever come close to GP4 when it comes to F1 racing on PC etc.. I know this is a console game as well… Anyhow, can’t help but keep comparing to GP4.

Certainly a shame to hear it's online only, many times in 2010 I've wanted to switch to the computer car to work out WTF happened to them in the middle of the race!

Been playing 2010 recently and driving for Red Bull my teamate seems to go AWOL in the middle of the race practically every time he'll be second behind me until the pitstops then for some reason disappears down to 20th!

Certainly think they don't let you view the computer cars because it would show all the bugs up more.
