It wasn't just because you used the wrong word, but more that you put forth a simplistic, poorly-expressed opinion in terrible prose and without giving it any real thought or supporting your viewpoint. Regardless, cretin was probably a harsher word than was warranted, so for that I apologise.

Lots of things are against the law, but that doesn't mean squat when it comes to morality. The law is there to protect, not to punish - at least, that's what we're always told. The distinction here is whether the sentence was lawful, not whether it was legal - in keeping with the spirit of the law, rather than the letter. Which is more important, in your opinion?
