Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 19th September 2011]

Yeah, i didn't mention the ref at all for the Bolton game when we thrashed them either, as i've apparently clearly stated that i blame him for the loss;)

You still stated that he's a factor in the loss when he isn't. Plain and simple they played ****. They were **** with 11 on the pitch and the same when there was only 9. Nothing changed when they went down to 9 men.

People saying i'm blaming the ref when i first stated we deserved the thrashing we got?

We did, doesn't stop the referee being horribly bad.

I appreciate that but can you appreciate that saying the ref was diabolical comes across as an excuse rather than a side note?

EIther way, I missed the first Skrtel and Adam's yellows, I think bale was looking for the second yellow and made an absolute meal of it, pounding his fist into the ground and what not, but it was one of those, like Caragher last week, don't put your arm around the guy even if you don't foul him, Skrtel, don't put your leg out and make ANY contact, because theres no need and you might get called on it.

Adam's second yellow though wasn't far off a red, not intentional, just retarded, but studs in high with a decent amount of momentum making full contact..... that would be given as a straight red quite often, in that case you're quite lucky the ref had an easy option of a second yellow as obvious a red and you'd lose him for more games.

I watched most of the game from right before the first goal and Liverpool defensively were just making mistake after mistake, foul after foul, infact almost nothing defensively seemed to work, it was either Spurs wasting a chance of Liverpool fouling, there seemed to be almost no good tackles, good positioning or intercepting, woeful at the back.

There were moments after the first goal where there was some good one touch passing movement around midfield, but it didn't really seem to go anywhere, after the sending off though they really didn't look remotely threatening.

Full line-ups:

Man Utd: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Anderson, Young, Rooney, Hernandez.

Subs: Lindegaard, Berbatov, Giggs, Park, Carrick, Fabio Da Silva, Valencia.

Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Meireles, Lampard, Sturridge, Torres, Mata.

Subs: Turnbull, Luiz, Romeu, Mikel, Malouda, Lukaku, Anelka.

As much as I love Kenny he's performed worse today than Hodgson ever did for us.

I know you're about as positive as an undeveloped photograph but seriously?

The system we started with was wrong but we changed that and started to improve, and then there was the red card. Once we're behind and down to 10 men (then 9), there's not a great deal any manager can do.

Why does Fergie not stick Jones and Smalling at CB and put Fabio at right back?

It would at least be better than Evans playing

Can't say I've watched him at all this season, how does his fitness look? Always thought it was that holding him back and he'd start scoring once he was fresh again but being getting dropped by Chelsea and then Spain must've knocked his confidence.

For me it's not the case of a fitness issue, it's completely a confidence thing.

We all know he has the ability and now Mata has arrived it should open a lot of doors for Torres.

Also, if Sturridge is playing more frequently that adds a lot of creativity to the game.

Finally, I hope Josh Mceachran starts to get more of a look in, fantastic player.

I appreciate that but can you appreciate that saying the ref was diabolical comes across as an excuse rather than a side note?

Well no, because i complained just as much about how shockingly **** the ref was against Bolton, it was just no one bothered to question me on how bad he was due to the fact we actually won 3-1.

With a good ref today, we still would have lost i'd imagine, had we actually been at the game today he may have cost us.

Well played Spurs. Thoroughly deserved your win and would've won without us going down to 9, Kenny has a lot of work to do.

Reina - Rare mistake but didn't have much to do all game but pick the ball out of the net :o

Skrtel - He's struggled at right back every time he's played there. I know Johnson and Kelly are injured but where's Flannagan?

Agger - Looked ok until he got injured. Defence fell to pieces once he went off.

Carragher - Another game laden with mistakes, negative balls back to Reina and aimless long balls forward. Needs to be dropped soon.

Enrique - Another good game at the back and going forward. Think some of the fouls given against him were unfair. Probably our best player.

Henderson - Completely anonymous yet again. He might have bags of potential but he's not good enough to be starting week in week out yet and he's certainly not good enough to keep Kuyt on the bench.

Lucas - Some poor passing in the first half but ran himself ragged and made some great tackles. Love his attitude but there's only so much one player can do on their own.

Adams - Garbage. First yellow could've been avoided had he just played the ball simple instead of trying to take on 3 players by himself. Second yellow was late and high. Only has himself to blame because he gave the ref the choice to send him off and he did. Should not be starting against top 10 teams because he isn't good enough.

Downing - Very little time on the ball and faded in the second half.

Suarez- Very poor game. Control let him down and his temper got the best of him. Already looks sick and tired of having to do everything on his own.

Carroll - Got absolutely no service but got stuck in and tried to do his best. Don't really have any complaints about his game today.

Kenny - Wrong starting 11, wrong formation, slow to adapt to the problems Spurs were causing us and slow to change personal. Probably his worst game ever as manager of us.

Needs to address our problems at the back and in the centre of midfield fast because we're not playing well at all.

I think that match summed up everything everybody apart from liverpools were saying.

Carroll- is ****, sorry, there is just nothing there.

Adam- Fat, slow, not great on the ball, clumsy, not bright.

Downing- Again, nothing there, offered nothing going forward, offered nothing tracking back

Suarez- is a ****, plain and simple.

Henderson- Pointless.

;)

The thing with Adams sending off, if he had won the ball first thus resulting in the spurs guy raking down Adam leg, would the spurs guy get carded? Think cards where both players are high are harsh

Now the Liverpool game is over can we turn our attention the United - Chelsea game?!

Please don't let the next 10 pages be about the Pool game :( I don't mean any offense when I say this!

Fully agree, Flannagan unfortuenatly seems to have been shoved to side since his mistake couple weeks ago he is injury free so would have been wise to least start a natural RB instead of a make shift one who got no help

I think it is always known though if you actually catch the player you will get booked if your foot is high, first was never a yellow mind you.
You do talk some drivel :o

Please explain to me how Adam's first foul was a booking.

As much of a red card candidate as Skrtel was today, Flanagan would have been even more so. He'd have cut Bale in half inside the first 15 minutes and been off.
