I presume 2.8Ghz is a bit low speed by today's standard.

No doubt he can run BF3 at this cpu speed. However overclocking the cpu by say 500-700Mhz will help with gaming experience. Plus Gpu bottlenecking will be reduced hence more FPS ;)

I ran the alpha at 2.5ghz on my Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 with no problem in framerate. People seem to under-estimate the power of some older chips.

It's a bit scary to take an investment like Battlefield 3 and just let people dig into that engine and do whatever they want. We're dedicated to try and really limit the amount of hacks and exploits that come out there, but as soon as you let something like that out, people have all the tools in the world that they need to sit there and try to create cheats that actually would destroy the experience for a lot of other people. I'm not blaming mod tools for hacks and exploits in any way, but there's a lot of things we need to consider.

Erm, BC2 has cheaters and hackers, and there is no SDK tools for it so his argument fails.
Similar story for Crysis 2 and MW2, it had no SDK and every cheat and exploit was out for it (plus you could play the multiplayer for free). :p

This guy must think we are stupid...

Yeah but with people being able to dig around into the guts of the engine it could result in far more annoying hacks. Couldn't really care about mods myself, the best one in years was desert combat, and thats ancient history now. :(

Sorry for another 'will my rig run BF3' post... (this definitely isn't a willy-waving one!)

E2180 @ 3.2, 4gb ram, 4870 1gb. I don't mind having everything set to low, as long as i can run it at 1920x1200 lag free. What are my chances?

Probably awful min framerates, really need a quad core tbh.

Really? Nuke hack on Crysis 2 was as serious as it gets though and that was the demo.

I can't really understand people turning down settings to low, whats the point in playing a game if you plan to run it on low settings, you might aswell just go back and play bf2,upgrade time and stop being tight with your money you greedy people:p

pb, so basically retard hacks will be caught but paid hacks will basically go undetected like every other game .

PunkBuster
BF3 will use PunkBuster as its anti-cheat system. Game servers that run in ranked mode are required to have PunkBuster active.
There have been problems with the PunkBuster screenshot mechanism under DirectX 10/11 in the past. However, we have collaborated with EvenBalance to make screenshots function reliably with DX10/DX11 in BF3.

lol basically the pb screenshot thing has been useless since it came out . black screenshots and most people have cleaners on dinosaur technology.
