Prison Life

American style seperation during visits would at least cut down the huge amount of phones and drugs pouring into our prisons, but that probably would be against the little darlings 'yooman rites'.

Don't US prisons also have massive problems with drugs, phones and other contraband getting in? If so, then the seperation doesn't seem to be working.

You have to give people incentives and rewards though otherwise why wouldn't they just spend all the time beating each other up and killing each other?

Dartmoor has massive problems with mobile phones and drugs as all UK prisons do.

If employee's get caught with a mobile phone in the prison it will result in instant dismissal and in some cases prosecuted.

I think most people don't understand the point of "prison". Yes, they're locked up, but it's not intended to be a "punishment" that they're locked up in the way most suggest.

They have been removed from society that they've been deemed a danger to, in an attempt to rehabilitate them. I'm not saying whether this works or not, but that's the essence of prison, rather than it being a punishment camp as people treat it. It's for that very reason you get people getting upset about the fact that some are allowed TVs and games.

does rape exist or only in america

I far jail cause im small and skinny and boyish

though I have no plans on going.

Knows someone who served a federal prison sentence in the states, but he is built like, well, but he worked out all the time, so he enjoyed it.

Because decent human beings don't do that? Shouldn't prison be teaching inmates to be decent human beings regardless of whether they get incentives and rewards?

I spent time in Dorchester Remand prison over Christmas 1999. I can assure you it was the same as the cells in the program Porridge. Horrible and without tvs and playstations. I would not want to go back. they need to put them back to how they were all those years ago.

Oh be quiet you silly lefty, yooman rights liberal. They should be locked up 24 hours a day with bread and water. It is the only way they will see sense and get rehabilitated and become a good, productive member of society.

I work in a prison, **** place to live and an even ****er place to work

Do tell. Stories, gossip, the lot :D

Nor, generally, do they find themselves in prison so I'm not sure what your point is?

You can think of an easy way to teach people that without incentive can you? Incentive is one of the oldest and most effective ways to teach people things.

ok but I mean if i went to prison in UK i need not fear that shower stuff? I dont plan on prison but im real skinny and boyish.

I spent a couple of months in a cat B. Disgusting and dirty place, a few fights and someone hung themself from their bunk bed one night, but none of the "shower stuff" went on. The screws are patrolling the wing in the 30 minutes that you are allowed out of your cell in the morning to shower and make phone calls.

From what I heard that "stuff" only goes on in cat A prisons and I don't think it's anything like how it's portrayed in the movies in US prisons.

Sorry but I think it should be both.

I think the problem with these "incentives" is that it puts the inmates in a better position than those on the outside. Not everyone can afford what some prisoners get, which is where the problem occurs.

I believe in an incentive system, but I think the whole standard of what constitutes "normal" and "reward" needs to be lowered.

so many mates been inside and say its easy, you got a problem do it one on and one, no gang rape (no homo). etc,
