Which AMD upgrade?

Got my 720 with unlocked forth core stable at 3.5ghz for a long time now,i use a hyper 212+ and when stressing/gaming doesnt get above 47*c,i recommend this cheap cooler and its quiet too

I went for the Titan Fenrir Evo in the end and fitted it today.

All seems to be running ok, back to 3 cores at the moment and showing around 25C idle in CoreTemp.

HWMonitor showing cores as around 25C and CPU 33C

I tried LinX again with errors still appearing. I assume now I will need to up the vcore, would 1.4V be the number to try?

Changed vcore to 1.4V in BIOS with 4th core unlocked (shown as 1.392V in CPU-Z).

Ran LinX again and had the longest run i've had with the 4th core unlocked, however stopped with an error after 9 runs

Iv got the same CPU & cooler as you have an got mine running at 3.3ghz on stock settings, but mine dont unlock to 4 cores  but the temp readings im getting are the roughly the same I roughly get same temps as you as I get around 26c while im idle & up to 40ish while gaming. - using HW Monitor

So I think the readings you are getting are fine. :)

Thanks, good to know my temps seem okay.

I see your running yours at 3.3Ghz, could you tell me how did you did this, was it just by upping the miltiplier or changing the vcore aswell?

Iv just increased the multiplier to x16.5.....Left everything as it was. Can get it to boot at 3.4ghz (x17) but its not stable.

Iv been told that if I increase the core voltage I tiny bit I should get it to be stable to 3.4Ghz but to tbh I happy with what iv got & its the first time iv ever over-clocked a CPU & iv not got the money to go replacing it if I try messing with other settings & burn the CPU out.

Just tried multiplier x16.5, all booted and run fine, however when I restarted the computer it kept looping on the post screen, turned computer off and then back on and booted fine again, however I have changed multiplier to x16 at the moment see what that is like.

Iv got no idea why it worked for me & not you...Im as new to overclocking as you are lol.....Are you trying x16.5 with 3 cores or 4th core enabled?

tried x16.5 with the 4th core disabled. It was running ok but kept looping on POST when restarting the PC :(

The max vcore is 1.5v. You might need a little bit more volts. Sounds liek you also have a geniune faulty 4th core, so keep that locked. Just try get the best overclock for your CPU for now.

Thanks Orcvader. I have locked the 4th core now and upped the multiplier to x16 in BIOS on 3 cores and ran LinX which completed fine.

Trying x16.5 or more becomes unstable and LinX stops on errors. I'm unsure as to what vcore I should be increasing to. In CPU-Z my vcore untouched runs at 1.328V

just keep increasing vcore by .05. if you vcore is reading 1.328 it will be 1.35 in the bios so up it 1.4 and see how it works

I tried 3.3Ghz and 3.4Ghz at 1.4V but LinX still chucking up errors.

Strangely 3.2Ghz at stock vcore which passed LinX earlier wont run now without errors. Now unsure as what to do.
