5 Things you must do

My top 5 must do in a MMO would be
1) Grief play, it's fun don't knock it until you try it.
2) Become hated, so hated, the more hate and nerd rage the better.
3) Become the best PKer, this is great will attract a lot of hate and also a lot of fan boys.
4) Be in a guild of like minded individuals who go around PKing everyone they can find.
5) Have the best items you can get, nothing better than having the best you can have.

UO player? XD

This made me think. I've no doubt it's a pretty individual thing, everyone plays for different reasons and gets different things out of it.

1) Strive to experience games from the past, even if you were too young when they came out. There's classic titles that define their genres that shouldn't be missed. Don't dismiss them just on looks.
2) Try anything once, with an open mind. Don't stick to just one game or genre your familiar with, there's a whole host of different types to play. And you'll never know if you like them without experiencing them first hand.
3) Support developers. Especially the indie ones. Loads of people just whine when things are done badly as armchair experts. I prefer to hear the positive things that people have to say about things done right. It's a lot harder than people think to make a good game.
4) Play for fun. I've got to the point with some games (due to competitive play or raiding) where it can stop being fun. Imo, when you get to this point, it's time to work out what you're playing for in the first place.
5) Don't be a dick. Nothing worse than cheaters and greifers.

I think things like joining a clan, running your own server and visiting a LAN are big experiences, but not integral to being a gamer.

1. Build/buy a PC
2. Get a Steam account
3. Buy every game that's in the steam sales
4. Don't play 80% of your steam games as you only got them on the cheap.
5. Repeat 3,4

1) Build expensive PC
2) Finally play Crysis on a huge resolution at Ultra settings
3) \:D/
4) ...
5) Go back to minecraft :(

How could you have guessed? :P

I was going to have rob someone completely blind of all their possessions but not really too viable in most modern day MMOs :(

I know, it's a shame really - I bet a lot of the idiots/kids/**** in games like WoW would either disappear or become a lot more respectful if they knew that if they ****** you off there's a high chance you would hunt them down and strip their corpse of everything of value.

One of the main reasons I think the community in UO was so great (up until Trammel that is...)

1) There's an "off" button?
2) Out - side? Are you crazy? That's where the sun lives!
3) That's what windows are for.
4) I met a real person once; I wouldn't recommend it.
5) As soon as they make a penis shaped USB port I'm marrying my computer.
