Welcome to the 2s Club: The fastest cars go head to head drag racing!

But... it's a bike? :p

Not exactly comparing two similar objects. All they have in common is that they go around on the same bit of road.

With a bike you can't:
  • Drink a Starbucks while driving
  • Go round corners
  • Not die in the wet
  • Carry luggage
  • Carry passengers
  • Go somewhere without dressing up like an S&M fan
  • etc

  • Listen to "wikid tunez".

These videos don't really impress me these days, not since I started riding bikes. When you've got something like a £13k BMW S1000RR which is identical performance wise to a £1m+ Veyron up to 180mph it doesn't seem so impressive anymore.

The gap between performance bike and performance car from a straight-line and acceleration standpoint has narrowed in my opinion, in the car's favour. How many bike riders can REALLY get their bike into 2 second territory for a 0-60 sprint even if the numbers tell you it can. More skill to launch a bike no question but you have to admit cars weighing a tonne and half and more, for road use, doing sub 3 seconds to 60 and sub 6 seconds to 100 are very very impressive and using price as an equation is pointless as you get a hell of a lot less tech with a bike, even the incredible BMW 1000.

...and i think the Veyron gets off the line the worst, but that video at the end with 3 compared shows just how much quicker it is, incredible.

For all its impressive acceleration, if i had the kind of money to buy a GTR, i can't help but think i'd be wanting something else.

Outright speed and performance wouldn't be enough i don't think. I'd want something with character , flair, something flamboyant.

Even if it meant buying a slower car.

Is the Turbo S an automatic? In the video it looked like it changed gear without him doing anything, unless I missed something?

The biggest problem with these cars are it's just too easy to drive everywhere at silly speeds and lose your licence. You are 0 to speed limit in something like 3-4 seconds. Took a passenger ride in a GTR at the weekend on track and it was hard accel look at speed 130mph like it was nothing, Just made me think at the time. I'd still have something silly if I won the lotto though :p

If you're in the market for a GTR, then everything else takes a back seat to point to point speed and handling.

Its got the DPK dual clutch gearbox.

Can be operated manually or switched to auto.

who said anything about being in the market for a GTR ? i was purely making references to money.

They do sound nice too :D

Price: Porsche = £126,000..............GT-R = £72,00

Nurburgring Auto Sport time: Porsche = 7:44 (dry)..............GT-R = 7:34 (dry)

Why there is only one 2 second car in the test: R&T, just like C&D and Motortrend, use roll-out. That’s 1 ft, so approx 0.3 shaved off a European 0-60 test. Headline numbers sell.

@90mph, the Porsche has travelled 445 feet. The GT-R has travelled 443 feet. 2 feet = £27,000 per foot.*

@122mph, the Porsche has travelled 1124 feet. The GT-R has travelled 1094 feet. 30 feet = £1800 per foot.* Or...

The Porsche is 15 foot long. @122 mph, the distance from the front of the GT-R to the back of the Porsche is a single 911 car length. Or...

Next time you hit 122mph from the toll booth in your “performance” car, what do you think the driver of the “performance” car one length ahead of you is thinking?

*I have not applied “Yeah, but it’s a Nissan” -75% correction factor.

1 Veyron SS = 30 GT-Rs
30 GT-Rs = 15,900 BHP.
Top speed = Mach 7.5 (5,708mph)
0-60 with no rollout = 96 seconds before you tried.

2 are great cars and I don’t think there is much quicker from A to B. The Porsche has a lot going for it, regardless of price. Given even remotely competent drivers in each, neither will drop the other or overtake the other on anything resembling a normal B road. I’m glad both are around and it’s healthy competition. If this continues down the route I hope it goes, we’ll be enjoying some very quick cars from both sooner rather than later.

The other is, love it or hate it, pretty much the pinnacle of shifting automotive mass astonishingly quickly. The last 30 sec onds of the EVO vid at Brunters where the GT-R has a running start truly shows just how rapid it is.

Not as good as the first video in this thread though.

no cup holders on motorbikes :(

plus drive through car washes are too moist ;)

:p

veyron = digit losing worthy

infact if bugatti want a publicity stunt I will pubically be happy to have one digit removed from either hand for a free veyron (nodoby can better this offer, two fingers are definitely not better than one, my GF said so)
