Im hitting 1200mb out of 1280 on my cards, fairly heats them up as well, 77-72c at 750/1500/1674 clocks. Two i7 9** rigs in one room, who needs heating lol.:D

Definitely this game is resource hungary for Vram. The more vram, the better.

This guy is experiencing same issue as me with my 5850

ibob: ''single 5850 seems to be doing ok on the beta, getting a lot of fps drops from 30-40 to 10 though. Thats on high settings with 16x tropi and aa disabled (no choice on beta)''.

A lot of games lately have used large amounts of vram, Witcher 2 used 1150mb for me, Shogun 2 1350mb....and i think Metro 2033 was like 1200mb or so too but may be wrong with that one.

It's when you apply anti aliasing/shadows to a high amount that vram starts to go up a lot especially after 4xmsaa or higher it starts to get a lot more used.

Wow finally managed to get into Caspian and got about 20 mins of gameplay in before the server seemed to die.

Utterly, utterly, fabulous is all I have to say. I'm a BF1942/BF2 vet and am all about open world FPS games where I can snipe from long range. Ever since the days of Delta Force that's what I've always been about.

BF3 ticks all the boxes. Weapon damage is spot on (1-2 hits to kill with a sniper rifle it seems) and bullet dip seems realistic when shooting at long range. I got a headshot with the MK11 Mod at what looked to be about 400m out at one point. All felt very familiar to me after endless hours of BF2. I would like to see a rangefinder to judge distance though but I can't recall if those were in BF2 now?

It comes alive in Conquest no doubt about it. Rush is simply there to add a bit of flavour to it. I guess Dice don't want to just pretend Bad Company never happened.

My GTX295 handles this game perfectly too. Obviously, no DX11 for me but I can cram it all up to High no prob.

I think even with AA off, Vram was already reaching 990-1000MB in my case. So I think when I applied AA, this caused performance loss during heavy action.

I loved the old novalogic joint ops games, now that was proper sniping, 1000 yards+ with proper ballistics and scope dialling. Still cant say too much about bad company 2 as ive really enjoyed it, despite its issues.

Try lowering the shadows it should reduce it by a fair bit...besides even with medium shadows the game should still look real good as it's probably one of the least image quality effecting options anyway.

Yup I will definitely do this next time. I usually have shadows low anyway.

HBAO also eats up vram

After playing Caspian Border, I never want to play Operation Metro again.

I hope all the remaining 7 default maps are very large and conquest based

I thought that aswell. After a few games of Caspian though and with that, I am seeing Metro in a new light. Just had a cracking couple of games on it, instead of the usual all out, dare I say it, dashing about COD style, was moving with squads. Love it.
Game of the Decade and more, a lot more.

On a side not. Those little jeep 4x4 things can take a hell of a lot of tank machine gun rounds and after all that, it only disables it. :)

Ill try with shadows lowered as well, ive found with cod bo. Lower shadows helps a lot, everything else on highest setting but with max shadows it gets a bit jerky, hardly the most demanding game either.

Just played a few rounds on caspian border, and after, I went straight onto bc2, ummmmmmm doesnt really compare! lol, bf3 will be awesome! :D

Plus one individual alone can't get enough kills compared to rest of the team mate unlike in operation metro. This helps those who are new to BF gameplay style and keeps their spirit up :p

In Caspian Border, you can plan your attack from so many different angles. It also emphasizes strategy compared to operation metro rush mode lol.

So much variety in caspian border plus hugely enjoyable compared to metro.

Seeing the fighetr jets dog fight in the map is breath-taking and awe-inspiring

One of the best and most beautiful map ever created:cool:

I was in a attack-chopper earlier and it was beautiful looking down: raining hell on soldiers... as morbid as that may sound. :p
