BF3 Beta FPS thread

5850 CF seems to do a good job for me with the right settings. I'm using 11.10 preview drivers and my res is 1680x1050. I'm sure there will be plenty of optimizations from Dice and from ATI before release so hopefully we can see some improvements.

Full res screenshot (looks good enough to me)

Fraps recorded FPS benchmark, taken during the first portion of metro outside.

FPS Results (avg of 80 fps)

Running on a 2500k @ 4.5ghz, 4gb ram and 2x 6950's unlocked and overclocked, on ultra i was getting no less than 70fps on metro last night, but in parts it felt like it was at 40fps even though fraps said it was 70+, have noticed this in other games... high FPS but feels like 30-40, i assume its just a crossfire issue?

Fraps tells me I can play it at 34.5 FPS average after a whole map. Very pleased to be honest. Not sure about graphics settings. if it was low, I'll put it on ultra, if it was ultra, i'll put on low.

Why is this game running 40fps+ on absolute max settings on my 6850? I thought this was a card killer.

edit:

seems to drop a bit more, more like 30fps+.

Because it isn't a card killer. It has been hyped up massively in order to drive hardware sales, particularly when it is not that long before we see the next generation of GPU's early next year.

People like to buy into it as well because in their minds it justifies them using two 580's in SLI at 1920x1200 on a single monitor.

'BF3 will NEED 2x580 in SLI to run at ultra settings at 60fps' will it ********.

Considering most of our results it seems your the one talking tosh!

I have crossfire 6970s and im only getting 67 fps there aren't going to be any single gpu cards that can push 60fps if the results were getting from this beta are accurate.

If crossfire is a nonsense then tri-fire is! Don't judge it yet
Eyefinity is sooooooooooooooo nice though

As nice as those screenshots look, i couldn't ever put up with the monitor bezels. I had eyefinity about a year ago when i was playing bfbc2, just doesn't seem worth for the huge cost.

Until they make ultra thin bezel monitors and make graphics cards powerful enough to cope with 3 in a single gpu solution (by that i don't mean 6990 dual gpu on one card) it'll never be more than a gimmick to me.

I have the same rig but by I get extreme stuttering when the 1GB VRAM has been used up on my primary 5850, are you getting that same problem? The only way to get rid of this is to put shadows on low and turn off AA

I was reading somewhere that you have to exit a game for new graphic settings to take effect.... is this true? If so.... arse!!!

Its hard enough to get into a game, let a lone leave and enter again!

Cheers, will try that tonight! I had no idea motion blur could have that effect though?

Well, hopefully it works, that's what the problem seemed to be for me. Once i turned it off the game felt smoother generally running around even though my FPS didn't change.

With it mouse movements had this element of moving through treacle, like it was slightly delayed, soon as i turned it off the game felt more like bc2 in its movements.

So I'm playing at 2560x1440 on a GTX 480
Seems like I'm better off going sli GTX 480 than upgrading to a GTX 570 or GTX 580 or do people not agree?
