The rotation is pretty boring, yeah, but it's easy to see a good arcane mage from a bad one - the better ones can squeeze out a surprising chunk of extra DPS by hitting their rotation right. Still prefer ret paladin in a way, but it's good to try new things

Definitely, especially as arcane mage. Take a look at this to twiddle your rotation a bit, the intricacies are pretty complex but you should be able to find a simple, solid rotation which takes into account your buff procs (clearcasting, arcane mastery).
It's a shame about the Ban's Hammer raiding, had a fantastic time back in the day. I've actually rerolled on Argent Dawn, so if anyone knows of a good alliance guild for social levelling & future raiding potential with space for a prot warrior & resto druid, hit me up

I'm a resto druid on AD (Psyla) currently in a nice small(ish) guild of 200 that has a good community. Good for levelling and just starting to do the odd bit of raiding. /w if you want to know more.

Argent Dawn, for a number of reasons I dropped out of raiding a few weeks before it shuddered to a halt over on DB and left it at that for a couple of months, but since I bought my sub on a 3-month basis I figured I'd use the last month or so up and rerolled with my gf on AD - I've always preferred the community on RP servers, just seems to be notably more mature. It's her first time tanking and my first time healing with any degree of dedication (had resto OS for a druid up to lv62ish) and it's good to go through as Alliance (which I haven't levelled as since the cataclysm) and with nothing to support us - no extra gold reserves, no heirlooms, nothing
. Though it's a pain in the arse at times, trying to get DPS to play their damn roles properly in dungeons... I've taken to letting retarded DPS know that I won't be healing them at all, so if they don't want to die they'd better learn how to damn well play 
So we've just hopped back into dungeons today - her on prot warrior and me on resto druid, both lv45 after dropping off dungeons for a few levels in exasperation over tards. Hopped back in for a random today, the last third of Dire Maul. Absolutely mullered by the first few trash packs. She was taking a hell of a lot of damage and I couldn't keep up with the healing - even after ignoring the retarded DPS who couldn't control their aggro, it was a struggle to keep her alive.
It was easy as pie right up to early 40s, the only thing that changed is that I specced out of living seed and went for intelligence boost talents instead. I've got a good grip on my spells - rejuvenation as a constant, nourish to keep up as standard, regrowth for heavier damage periods, swiftmend (glyphed) as a panic button - but it just didn't seem to be enough. Anyone have any idea why it suddenly became a challenge? Do the ogres in the last bit of Dire Maul just hit that much harder? It shouldn't really be that hard to tank 4 or 5 level-appropriate elites at once, should it?

It shouldn't be that taxing to heal those dungeons really. Saying that, I levelled a warrior pretty recently and remember a few wipes doing Dire Maul North. Just make sure your lady is getting into the habit of popping things like Shield Block (bind it to your Shield Slam key as it's off GCD) and Thunderclap to reduce damage taken. In a few more levels when she gets Shield Wall it's good practice to pop it at the start of pulls when damage is highest. Stuff like that!
I think a lot of the rehashed dungeons (Strat, Scholo, DM etc) are balanced around players with heirlooms, so that might be a factor. It's nice to have a challenge though, isn't it?

Yeah we are perma-banned from any WoW PTR and Beta. Checked this quite recently with Colin.
We can still get into the Diablo 3 beta though and any other Blizzard game.
I created my PTR test account after getting that cata 'ptr' banned back in the day and mine works.

But honestly, AB is useful in its place. Spamming blast is all very well and good, but in standard gear it's a real fast way of running out of mana - I've gone 1 or more casts without getting an AM proc. At raiding level, it's simply not good enough, and I doubt it'll cut the mustard in HC dungeons, either.
Best DPS output comes from a well-managed burn phase, i.e. if you have improved mana gem talented spam blast until using a gem would restore enough mana to bring you up to full, pop arcane power and mirror image and whatever trinkets you have and spam until you're out of mana. Output in those phases is ridiculously high, easily compensates for any slight loss from using arcane barrage to clear stacks of the blast debuff, but obviously it works best when you have full or nearly full mana.
Edit: Thanks Jolteh, I'll make sure she has a look at that. Think we'll start by selecting a few lower dungeons, scholomance or stratholme that we skipped while levelling in zones, and work back up to DM - and yes, looking forward to finding it a challenge again

Just got a worrying email.
Seems someone in the last 2 hours has been sending Blizzard tickets requesting to remove my authenticator because the app on their phone wont work. Blizzard have asked for my name and address (though i cannot see Blizzards response) and the hacker has sent my name but with my work address on a jpeg!
I quit the game back in march and I dont know anyone in RL who would know my work address and be remotely interested in hacking my account.
I'll change my password again, but this shows how far the hackers will go to get into your account and I wonder if authenticators will stop them?

An explanation was given, one of the few who was given F&F broke the NDA and almost cost Colin his job.
They didn't know who it was so pretty much everyone had their F&F/Beta/PTR account banned.
I can understand all that but I still wished he only gave it to people he knew quite a bit on these forums as new people were registering and asking for access.
