** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

An explanation was given, one of the few who was given F&F broke the NDA and almost cost Colin his job.
Well thats a bit of a pain, and i feel bad for colin having been put in that position given his stance and the fact that people abused his kindness.

Life goes on.
Indeed, guess i'll sort out ptr access on my second b.net account or something.

Yeah it really is. It's all in the past now, the main thing is that Colin didn't lose his job since in the real world it's more important than someone having access to a game.

But, because people hadn't followed the rules and had everything went smoothly things would be very different.

And I may have got a Diablo F&F invite :p

Was a bit bored today so did some farming.

Thats the fourth time i've filled those bags like that today, now just to mill and smelt it all >.<.

Estimated it over 15k worth of herbs at least, not bad for a days farming >.>.

Though i'm not selling it, turning it into darkmoon card's.

My 6 week old Arcane Mage :D

Struggling to find a guild that does raiding AND decent pvp on my server though. Darkmoon Faire

Shame Bans Hammer has gone by the way side or i would have transferred.

My will eventually failed me once again :(

Off sick so I resubbed as I am just sitting round the house feeling sorry for myself and wanted something to do :(

Will probably only last a month like normal but ho hum :p

Indeed, but we're trying to get things back on track however due to the current state re-rolling is recommended rather than a transfer should you want to join us :)

Defias Brotherhood is the lvl25 that is being rebuilt as it were and Ravencrest is the re-roll lvl1 guild :)

Playing with my younger cousin on Argent Dawn Ally. First time he has ever played so i'm his personal WoW tutor :p can see it getting tedious rather fast :D

I will pop onto Zag, Zar or one of the others at some point to see if you are about.

One card short of being able to make a third volcanic deck, to make it worse none of that card type of ah :<.

By market value 58k worth of decks :<, not counting the loose cards which are valued at around 15k or thereabouts, not bad for a days work.

Hi,

I'm just beginning the game with a friend of mine and I've got a quick question about professions. I'm an undead shadow priest and I've taken tailoring and skinning as I figured it'd give me a bit of gold while letting me sort myself some armour. He's taken mining and herbalism and I've noticed he's levelling quite a bit faster than me. It seems you get xp for these two professions? Now fair enough he's going to have to buy his armour but with the bonus of xp and the fact he'll have a fat lot of gold doesn't it mean that he's probably got the more beneficial set of professions? What's the benefit to being a maker rather than a gatherer?

Also are there any ui addons you'd recommend for beginners?

Cheers

Crafting professions do offer some viability at low levels for new players but for people levelling alt's they will likely be decked out in heirlooms.

You don't get xp from crafting professions but you do from gathering professions even if it is minimal amounts, i would suggest that one of you take dual gathering professions (herbalism and mining) and the other takes enchanting and tailoring.

He may get more xp from gathering but shouldn't be enough to outdistance you by much, you can level tailoring throuhg the cloth drops you get from mobs etc initiall and this will give you a source of items to disenchant for mats to level up enchanting.

brill, I was always under the impression that enchanting was a slightly more advanced profession? Still, I guess if there's demand for it.

It is indeed a substantial xp gain, I took mining/herbing on the dk I recently made just for that gain. Towards the end lvl80+ I know I was getting 7-13k xp per gather which is roughly a third to half of a quest hand-in.

They don't give you any extra dps or easy access to gear once you hit 85 though, I already dropped the herbing and levelled alchemy with almost purely the mats I picked up along the way (for the shiny 359 trinket + permanent 80 strength flask and increased flask gains). I kept my mining as the stamina is fine for tanking.

Your professions will win out at end game and generally its recommended to have the crafting professions on your main and the gathering on your alts so you have access to everything you need. If you get addicted enough you can pick up something else next time. :)

EDIT - wiki page: http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:Gather_XP

the extra XP is quite dramatic in the level 30-60 range.
