Doctor Who

And who the hell plays chess in the middle of the night in the middle of a city centre???

Looks like Amy and Rory ;)

once again a potential for a brilliantly dark and grown up episode dicked away for hollow feel good deus ex machina crap. :(

Just once can't we have a program where everything isn't rainbows and happy thoughts?

Not with Doctor Who, no. It's prime time family viewing. It'll never be anything other than "rainbows and happy thoughts".

I'd like it to be darker too - hell there's potential for a bloody great show focused at adults, in this - but expectations have to be realistic and it'll never be any more than what it is.

Based on that, I enjoy it for that reason.

I promised I wouldn't wade into this thread, but I figured it was about time.

I've been enjoying Doctor Who a whole hell of a lot since it returned. I thought the latest episode was pretty good. I enjoyed the Cybermen/end of the world shtick playing second fiddle to the Doctor figuring out his love for humanity again. The script was pretty decent, Smith was great as usual and Cordon was no where near as bad as he was in 'The Lodger'.

I'm still baffled as to why they decided to use James Cordon's character as the catalyst for the Doctor to rediscover his connection to humanity, there's plenty of better characters they could have looked at, but hey ho.

I think it's easy to see where series six is going to go, now. All of this series has had the overarching idea of avatars, and secondary representations of other people so we've pretty much been told how this all ends from the get go.

Wasn't Torchwood the "Adult" spin off we all wanted and it turned out that "gay romps" are the only thing to make a show for a more mature audience in the Dr Who universe.

Disappointing end to the an awful series. I think Matt Smith is fantastic Doctor but he's had some atrocious material to work with and two comical assistants who need to be exterminated quick sharp.

Will watch the Christmas episode but it'll need a drastic improvement for me to bother with the next series which is a shame because I've watched it since the days of Colin Baker. My dad's watched it from the very beginning and it's one of the few programs he's never missed and he feels the same :(

Why do people feel the need to post every week saying how rubbish it is? IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN DON'T FRICKIN' WATCH IT!

because there's always the hope they may do something good with a concept you love, but they don't always.

all long running series have ups and downs and writers and directors are changed.

I didnt really consider it a true finale with so much left to go really.
The scilence really are quite creepy though :)

Great ep IMO
Rory is badass
River is annoying as hell
Amy im undecided about.

Obvious? yes.
The question obvious? SO OBVIOUS! but hidden in plain sight. brilliant :D

Smith is going to get better and better

Are you suggesting that Doctor Who was better back in the days of Colin Baker? If so, I'd suggest you should remove the rose-tinted glasses and re-watch some of them, because they are largely rubbish by today's standards.

i thought it was an okay episode, but by far the weakest finale so far.

I agree, moffat had really up the story telling this year by making it a much stronger story over the course of the series but it didn’t feel like he know how to end it, so the end became "And so this happens which undoes everything and on we go" That may had work in the RTD years when the story told over only 2 eps not the entire year, but moffat had to rap ever thing up in one ep and I don’t think it worked. :(

Over all tho a better series than last a much most involved over all story, better non moffat/show runner eps (except the pirate eps, that was terrible)
